timing

A woman is getting ready to go out and the husband calls from the other room, " Come on, otherwise we're going to be late!"

The woman, looking over at their dog who is sulking in the chair, calls back to the husband, " I think Fred is upset that we're not taking him!"

The husband peeks in and the woman then asks the dog, " Are you upset that we're not taking you Fred?"

To which the dog is thinking," I am a little peeved, to say the least!"

I saw this in my daily reading this morning....and a certain little white English Welsh pooch came to mind....

timing

Dont ya just LOVE the timing on things?

Tori: A bear and a porcupine are sitting on a log, talking.
Bear: (pointing off frame) Check it out! What kind of dog is that?
Porcupine: Chow.
Bear: Of course it's chow, you idiot! What kind of chow?
Porcupine: Hmm... He's kind of portly... I'm guessing he's high in trans fat.

I guess the next question would be whether he'll be served in a bowl or on a plate... ~grinz~

a painful ride and some fun plates

I'm so disappointed in myself. Will I beat myself up about this? Nope. Notta chance. Why? Because earlier today I was vacuuming the bedroom, and hubby was holding the mattress and boxspring off the frame up so I could get underneath (mostly because the damned dog likes to rip up tissues and the cat strews the shreds everywhere). While standing under the mattress vacuuming, I felt a twinge in my lower back and almost dropped to the floor. I've had a heating patch on my back ever since. I decided an hour or so ago that I'd see if I was well enough to pedal anyhow, I mean after all it was my back and I'd be seated in a semi-reclined position right? So I started off slow, just in case....a ways into the ride I kicked up a little because it felt ok. Next thing I know, I have some pain so I back off a bit. I started feeling better a bit later and kick it in again and *bam* some pain. So basically, I'm really kinda lucky I got the ride in at all tonight. On the plus side, even with this problem tonight...I still was going faster than the first night on tension level 2...which is good.

Today while we were out (I had to go and get bloodwork done again), I saw a few license plates we could have fun with. Unfortunately, I was unarmed and had to make due with a pen and paper....

HURL GRL (and she's proud of this?)
TWNS & 3 (that explains the minivan it was on....gotta team in the making there)
BUSY B4 (this one was on one of those newer VW Beetles....in bright yellow and bee decor)

and my absolute favorite...I wish it was on our car:

PLZ SNOW

Word is that we may actually get some snow showers tonight too. I hope they're not teasing...

dontcha just love the timing of things?

Oh how I love the timing of things. Iggy knows exactly what Im talking about as we've talked about it before via email. How a topic will come up in the Blogs or chat and next thing I know....they show up in a picture or the comics somewhere else on the web within a day or so. The latest one was brought up in Chicagolady's July 22nd entry regarding the bird variety as well as Kaylee’s fish variety . Well today while reading the edjumikashunalz I came across the following :
Girl: So you see Mr Bee, this is Ikebana. The art of Japanese flower arranging.
Bee: Hmmm
Girl: The flowers are arranged in an aesthetic tone, according to which way each flower will seem the most happy. They do seem happy, neh?
Bee: Woof!
Girl: ?
Bee: they may seem happy to you, but to a bee, that's porn.

Now, I've heard of the birds and bees...but the fish? *shakes head*

The Seattle paper I look at daily (for the edjumikashunalz), has links off to the right with pictures attached. Many times it'll be the weeks amazing animals or modeling in Europe or even star sightings. Well the other day, while perusing the day's pictures, I saw one that brought a couple entries to mind. The first being Chicagolady's entry of July 19th and the other being from out of iggy’s blog . What was the picture? Why this of course:

According to Seattlepi.com , they are "Sculptures of people performing Tai Chi are displayed at Peking University in Beijing, China. A total of 600 sculptures have been placed on the campus to usher in the Olympic Games. Peking University Gymnasium is the table tennis venue for the 2008 Beijing Olympics." So long as Angelina Jolie isnt in town doing a Tomb Raider convention, they should be safe.

These are only two of the more recent occurances of this happening to me. There's another story of this happening with my SIL (I swear if that one lady in the comics gets preggers again I'll cry because it means another niece or nephew is coming along). Now I know I cant POSSIBLY be the ONLY one that this has happened to. Feel free to use my comment section to share your experiences with this odd phenomenon. While you're at it answer this, do these events happen due to some really wonky cosmic timing OR is it simply that they were there all along and we've noticed them simply because we've been discussing them (aka: the iggy OCHA effect)?

white bikes

fence made of bikes painted whiteWhile cleaning up my computer desk top, I came across a file that had a scanned picture in it. The picture within had been scanned on July 9th so I'm guessing the magazine it was in was either the May or June edition because I'm not finding the article in the July edition that I have on hand. Anyhow, it reminded me of a pic I took back in March sometime. Ya'll may remember it (shown to the left). I took it about the time iggy started his rather imaginative (and informative) OCHA articles. While on the way to the townhouse I had seen this fence made of white bikes. I snapped the pic and filed it in the appropriately labelled "iggy pix" folder of my Photobucket. If I recall, someone said that sometimes a white bike fence is just that, a white bike fence. At that point I was willing to just let it go.

Picture of a completely white bike (tires and all) pictured chained to a signpost in New York City. There are 41 of these
That is until my Reader's Digest came in and I found this pic. Now I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't more to the story of that white bike fence. Oh I'm not curious enough to pull into the fella's driveway and out and out ask a stranger about the fence. Why? Because I'd hate to think that the fence is just a creative use of old bikes and hence, just a fence. I am however, curious enough to wonder about it. Is this the purpose they had in mind when they assembled it? Was it assembled a little at a time with one bike added for every death? Were they family members or just victims that died at that corner and in essence the bikes are a memorial. Worse yet, was it one huge accident that took them all at the same time? In any case, I know I wont be biking near that corner any too soon.
