I know I havent blogged about the trip to TN yet. I probably wont because it was rather uneventful. There are some pictures here though:

I was rather inspired by a few of the trees in the area as they showed such character. Not every tree draws me like these did. The one at the edge of the property looks quite old. It's enough to make someone wonder what all it may have witnessed over its long life. I dont think it's old enough to have seen any action from the Civil War, although it certainly could have from where it's standing as according to my MIL... the Confederates had actually been on the hills seen in the distance behind it.

Awesome pictures! I love the trees, the one with the sun just coming over the mountain was beautiful! There's something about winter that brings out a tree's personality. Once the leaves are gone you can really see it's character.

Looks like that one road was just recently carved out of the mountain! LOL

I also went and read the Wikipedia entry for Tazewell, noting that most of it was destroyed by fire after the CW. Any info on that from family? Was hubby's family living there back then? You know I'm going to have to go look and see if any of my books on the CW include info on the Cumberland Gap, lol.

Dunno...aint about to ask to be honest. Bored enough as it is there with no internet at the house, last thing I need is a history lesson to boot. Just thought there would be a few here interested in the fact that war had gotten that close. If you like I can give you a couple family names via email so you can do some digging...

I really love the picture titled "Study of a tree" its evocative. I can't put my finger on just why... but something in it makes you want to look deeper into it.

Thanks for the American Idol countdown clock... LMAO... :)

I've never been to TN. Got some good friends that live somewhere near Gatlinburg. Really should get up there to see them some day!

Oh boy AI! I've heard Simon's gonna be nicer this year since that girl killed herself. I dunno. Will have to wait and see how he can constructively critisize ppl!
