That is the last day of tension level 3. Tomorrow, we step it up another level. This ride is the second fastest for the month.

Yesterday, hubby and I went out for breakfast at the buffet in the strip mall behind us. While we were out, we stopped off at McKays Secondhand books. As has been my habit, I made straight for the youth books and what do you think I found? All the rest of the Black Stallion books save 3. Best yet was that I found the very next book I was needing (Ive been looking for that bugger for the last 2 months!!!).

Well the other day I got my letter from wifey. I'd been hoping for an easy letter and imagine my surprise when I got an extremely easy letter to work with. So easy infact, that Im having a heck of a time limiting myself to just 10! Once I get everything written in and the pix to go with it, we're looking at yet another marathon entry... the War and Peace of entries! Certainly ya'll dont want that. Im considering breaking it up into several smaller entries (assuming I can get narrowed DOWN to 10 which I suspect I wont be able to).

Today TNT (one of the cables stations here in doodle land) was playing...I should say is playing....the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. They started around 1130am and are just now reaching the last of the movies. If I'd have known, I would have gotten up a bit sooner and come straight downstairs to watch. I cant complain though, I caught about 2/3 of the first movie and all of the second.

Ok...I got the one decoration that I plan on putting up this year up....yeah...I've hit another "Bahhumbug" type of year. Maybe it'll clear up in a week or so? On the other hand, since we wont be home for Christmas, there doesnt seem to be any need to decorate...

By Black Friday these were seen already:

Who the HELL buys a FRESH CUT tree at this time of year and truly expects it to be even halfway decent looking when Christmas week shows up?? Personally, the lots shouldnt even bother setting up until 2 weeks before Christmas....what a waste of trees....

yeah...that's about right...

I got this one over at Wifey's blog.....a good deal of my result is very accurate....with the exception of the comment about my parents. They weren't abusive in the slightest and for the most part never drank alcohol.

I was going to write an entry tonight, but sadly I simply dont have it in me. There are about 18 entries that I need to read but Im not sure I'll make it through them all today. I'd really rather be in bed right now. My SCSis called me earlier tonight and told me that her husband left her yesterday and demanded a divorce....they've been married 6 years..... *sigh*

Another award and medical update

Look at this, more bling! This one is courtesy of Queenie Jeannie over at http://happy-jeannie.blogspot.com/ . Thank you very much hun. She didnt leave me any rules to play by in her entry though so I tracked it back to Dorky at http://dryastoast.blogspot.com/ , who had these rules posted:

The rules for this one are as follows:

1. The winner may put the logo on their blog.

2. Put a link to the person who sent you the award.

3. Nominate 5 blogs.

4. Put links to their blogs.

5. Leave a message for your nominees.

Well we know what a rebel I can be when I feel like it so Im going to totally ignore the last 3 rules! :P~~ If you read this blog, it's highly likely that I follow your blog so consider yourself nominated (Alice, this means you too). You are all so encouraging to me in your own ways and Im thankful for each and everyone one of you!

Update on medical. I got an email from the dr's office yesterday evening, shortly after I posted my entry. The response was from the RN on duty. Seems the dr is on vacation this week and the nurse didnt want me to have to wait on my answer. Considering Im having such problems (or as she put it I was feeling "weird") on the 3 pills a day that I should back off to 2 pills a day again. She let me know that some people have difficulties adjusting to Metformin so to take the 2 pills a day and slowly work up to 3. Personally, I suspect I'll have a message from the dr come next week when she gets back to work. Im hoping that she decides to try something else to be honest.

Grey cold day today. More the type of weather to stay bundled in bed and sleep. Unfotunately, with me on this damn med 3 times a day, I cant exactly do that anymore. I *think* next week im supposed to go to an every other day or once a day dose but Im not sure. I dropped the dr who issued the medicine (my obgyn) a note today and let her know of all the symptoms I was getting. I also asked what the dosage for the coming weeks would be. While I was detailling out the problems I mentioned that one of my friends who was on the same medicine suggested that the dosage might just be too high for me. Im hoping that's she'll get back to me on Friday with an update. Im kinda hoping the update is an early morning call to be honest.... with an appointment attached would be nice too.

Hmm...dontcha hate when you put the music mix on and just when you need the really pumpin music , the slower beats show up? I guess it's ok...the legs really didnt wanna go much faster than they did today. So long as I dont go any slower than 20 ave mph or less than 325 calories burned, I should still be doing ok. The rides are getting better over all though. Out of 25 days this month 16 of the rides have been faster than the fastest ride last month.

That soldier email that's been going around? I just received it for the 3rd time in less than 2 weeks. *sigh* Again, I hit reply all and took care of a whole slew of them at once. On the off chance I missed anyone here I'll repeat the info this way ya'll can pass it on to whomever passes it to you. Hopefully, if everyone reading this works together, maybe we can at least correct a good handful of those spreading the wrong information and get some holiday cheer actually TO the soldiers.

Unfortunately, I've run circles around the Nascar one and it's gone belly up....

Earlier today I made an adjustment to my page. You'll notice all the awards have pretty much gone missing. I've put them in their own entry and back-dated it to when I restarted this blogspot. The one that is on the page will the the most recent one received. In the awards entry, the most recent ones will be to the top and I have the link to the entry where I received it.

Feel the burn!!! Best ride of this level and third best for the month. Can you imagine the speed I woulda had if the R&B station was playing all fast music tonite?

Here are the pictures I promised in my last entry. The picture to the left is my school picture from my senior year of high school (1986-1987). I remember the day that was taken. It was in the middle of August 1986 and in the high 90's with the worst humidity we'd seen all summer. I was pretty much melting by the time I got there. This is not the picture that was in the yearbook though. They made me use one of those standard shots for that. A shame as this was the best shot of the bunch.

The picture to the right was taken on graduation day...mid June 1987. As was custom for non-rainy commencement ceremonies, our graduation was held out on the football field. Thank goodness us gals were in the white robes as if I had to wear the blue the guys were in or the black ones the teachers were in....I would have passed out. It was so warm that day we actually had ambulances parked in the parkinglot just in case and volunteers from the honor society and some of the staff passing water out in the stands.

In the above to pix I'm roughly 100 pounds lighter than I am now. I'll be happy to get even *just* that small....at this rate, it's entirely possible.

And here I am now...22 years later with my handsome hubby. This is a special collage we had done with the shots we picked out from our photo shoot. The middle pic is being made into a
10 x 13 for the wall in our dining room...this collage will go in the hallway or up in the office. It's 22 years later and with the exception of my weight, I dont think I've changed too much. I certainly dont look like Im pushing 40...nope, not at all!

ok, so, I love bling!

" Choose this day whom you will serve"

I was cruising the blogs today and while in one of Jeannie's many entries today, I came across one talking about one of the giveaways ( http://happy-jeannie.blogspot.com/2008/11/super-cool-giveaway.html ) that she was excited about:

My pal Cassandra is having a giveaway for this too cute pendant and chain! Another awesome piece from my new favorite Etsy store Home Studio!! So head on over and get yourself signed up to win this! And then stay to read her lovely blog!!!

So I popped in to check it out. Cassandra made it so very easy to earn entries for her contest that I couldnt help myself. This is the last step for me to earn a few extra entries in hope that just maybe I can win a little something pretty for myself. If not...oh well...I'll just have one made special for me. If I really like the work, a few of my girlfriends can expect to get ones like it for Christmas next year!

PS and yes, she DOES have a rather lovely blog!

One tenth of a mile off yesterday's pace. Do I feel bad about this? Nope. Why? Because Im getting on the bike every. single. day...not feeling well....hurt... female problems...whatever. Im still getting on the bike. The only time I wont be is a week in December when it looks like we'll be visiting folks down south for the holidays at which point I fully expect I'll be off pace for a while afterwards.

The back's feeling alot better. Im still a bit out of sorts but Im really sure it's the Metformin. Thanks for the link iggy. Looks like this is something people are just going to have to be aware of and something I'll have to keep an eye on. It really sucks.

While leaving to run errands last Monday, we heard a scurrying sound in the leaves of a neighbor's yard. Who did we find, but a cute little grey squirrel scampering about in a rather mad rush. I suspect it's the one we see from time to time in the tree in the one yard across the sidewalk from our house. When we got home, I saw him in the same yard as he had been in earlier....still rooting around for his groceries I suppose. I told hubby to go upstairs and grab the camera....get a few shots if he could. When he came in, he had 3 very nice shots and told me the sweet little bugger wasnt the only one out there. Seems that squirrelly had a friend but hubby simply couldnt get them in the same shot. The one above is my fav of the 3.

We got our pictures taken today. I think I'll post them with tomorrow's entry though as I wanna dig up my senior year picture to post with them.....

I think that's about it. Im seeing my email alert popping up now and then with a message I got an email from Alice. Looks like she's trying really hard to catch up so we wont make this one all that long. Could you IMAGINE if my entries were the usual marathon ones.....those that are behind would NEVER catch up! ~gigglez~

This week's favorite plate :

WTH is a Pooka and why would anyone wanna do it to (or on) the family vehicular transport??

Oh...and whom ever sent the precipitation? Ya sent it a bit too far north again. Not by much because I could sit there in the truck and watch someone else get what I've been craving. *sigh*

It kinda makes me wanna be back in NY...specifically Fulton where they woke up to this on Monday morning:

Got another of those "Send a card to" emails. I thought for sure I had told this person that the information was incorrect when I wrote about something else. To make my point, I emailled the correct info to them that I had sent Karla....but I made sure to hit "Reply all" to nip it in the bud. I really hated having to do that but they'd been warned about sending misinformation more than once and I told them the next time it happened I would do just that. *sigh*

Can I blame my cranky attitude on the additional medicine? I've noticed a behavior change since I started using it and it's gotten worse since I had to double my dose. I shudder the type of bitch I'll become next week when I go to 3 pills a day. It feels like the same kind of cranky I get when I havent eaten much all day (which means a lower blood sugar). If it doesnt right itself, I'll make sure to mention it to the drs (obgyn and the PCP).

You really REALLY shouldnt have!

My goodness! I think this one has gotta be the one that will prompt me to finally get that separate entry done so I can post all my lovely awards in one place! Im truly flattered. Thanks :)

Wifey ( http://wifeoriley.blogspot.com/2008/11/you-really-shouldnt-have.html ) told me last night in a comment that she had something special for me and I looked and looked and didnt see anything new in her blog but today it's there and what a beautiful award it is!

"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”

The award translates as, "This blog invests and believes, the proximity" [meaning, that blogging makes us 'close' -being close through proximity] As Im not fluent in Portugese, I'll have to take Wifey's word for it.

And now it's MY honor to pass this along to 8 of the blogs I really enjoy reading. In no particular order the winners are:

Sugarbush @ http://sugarbushsquirrelly.blogspot.com/ (a squirrel's eye view of human life)

punkn @ http://punkndeanna.blogspot.com/

Marmie @ http://marmitetoasty.blogspot.com/ (no food or drink while reading this one!!!)

Tori @ http://ziglernews.blogspot.com/ (food often discussed...bring a snack)

Whimsical @ http://whimsicalnbrainpan.blogspot.com/

Ausgrl @ http://ausgrl.blogspot.com/

Jeannie @ http://happy-jeannie.blogspot.com/2008/11/bellas-movie-night.html

iggy @ http://intenseguy.blogspot.com/ (another that often needs a warning of no food and drink while reading)

Actually there are a few more that I would love to give this to, but a couple of them already got it from Wifey and Im hoping that a few of the ones I awarded to will manage to get the ones I didn't quite get to.

Now back to our regularly scheduled blog....entry to be posted a bit later this evening.

riding a bike means smaller clothing!

Calories burned: 367.6

Spent a good part of the day downstairs today. Hubby told me a few days ago that he was expecting a shipment that would be coming via UPS and that it would be delivered today sometime between noon and 5pm.

So while I was waiting, I went back through the box of clothes for donation that's been sitting on the dining room table. Back in August (?), a friend of a friend had been going through her closet and weeding out the stuff that no longer fit her (she'd had that gastric bypass surgery) so my friend figured that maybe I could use the clothes that werent needed any longer. I had originally gone through the box and found several pieces that would fit but a good many did not. Many pieces were those that are the "I need to lose 5-10 pounds to wear comfortably" kinds of clothes and some were simply "I dont likes". Since it didnt think at the time I was going to be losing any weight, I'd simply put them back into the box to send to the second hand store once I'd gone through my own closet. It's been sorta warm up until last week or so, so I hadnt gone through my own wardrobe yet and because I hadnt....well that box has been sitting on the table. Today going through, I found several pieces that would fit now and a few pieces that I had already put in there because they were too small ,were pulled back out. There were 3 pairs of pants in there that are a good 2 sizes too small, but with the rate Im going I may just be into them come late spring or early summer so I figured I'd better just save them. Yeah...they're ~nice~ jeans!

If Im feeling better tomorrow, I plan on doing some of the weeding. I need to go through some of the stuff I bought in January as Im sure there may be a few items that are simply too big now. Not sure if I should even bother keeping some of the stuff Im wearing now as it's likely that none of it will fit by next spring or summer....especially the shorts as they were getting baggy before I went to the dietician....

So yesterday I got a call from the doctor's office. Seems that the bloodwork I went in for this week had a glitch. The medicine Im on has elevated one of the counts in my liver. The obgyn had suspected it would do this though and I had been forwarned about it. She wants me to stay on it and retest my blood in 4 weeks time. If there's still a glitch, she and my dr will get together and figure out what we need to do. Thankfully, they're in the same building so all I need to do is drop an email to both and wait on their decision.

I think that's about it for now....I wanna take one last cruise through the blogs before shutting down for the night. My luck , 8 more cropped up while my back was turned....at least that's what happened this afternoon while I was reading. Just when I got caught up, 2 more showed up. LOL

passing information with a correction EDIT: 5:18pm bike stats

A few days ago, I received and email from a friend that had a wonderful idea attached to it. While sending your holiday cards out, make sure to send some to those wonderful folks who had been cross seas putting their lives on the line in honor of our country. This is what the email says:

GREAT IDEA!! When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get. When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following:

A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue,NW
Washington,D.C. 20307-5001

If you approve, please pass it on.

Well, today I decided to clean out my inbox and came across the email again and something made me stop and think. It's gotten to be my habit to check anything like this out before passing because there have been a couple times when I was made to look a fool by passing info that wasnt correct. My general source of all confirmation is snopes. Infact, that's one of my mantras "Snopes is your friend"... and this is the link that Snopes had on it: http://www.snopes.com/politics/christmas/soldiercards.asp . As you can see from that link, that last little bit regarding how to address the cards is not correct.

I was going to just leave it like that when I remembered another email from a different friend who had information on how Snopes isnt all that it's cracked up to be. I told that friend, then fine...dont pass info unless it's been researched and that they might want to let their friends know that too. This way it didnt come back at them. So I dutifully researched the information on the Snopes site and found this: http://www.wramc.amedd.army.mil/NewsAndEvents/media/resource/Lists/wrarticles/DispForm.aspx?Id=65&

It's got a couple links in the last paragraph if you want more information on the program. It also gives you the proper address to send these cards and to whom they should be addressed.

If you want to make sure one (or several) of our past and present people in uniform get a nice thank you, please, please, please make sure it's addressed properly.

Back is slightly better and the one pain that prompted me to slow down yesterday was not present (and NO Marmie, it wasnt cuz I was bouncing on the mattress with me man LOL...now under ....is another story! LOL). Legs just didnt want to go today but then we were out walking some today as well.

Graduated to the new vial for my shot today. Even with a full belly Im having a more than usual reaction. With any luck, it wont last more than 24 hours...

Got some pix to share but Im too tired to deal with the camera right now. I'll get them loaded to the puter tomorrow. I got a plate on "film" today. Didnt have the camera at hand for another...*sigh*. The one not captured on "film" said USPEEDUP. I guess the driver's prone to tailgating (and I aint talkin beer and BBQ in his pickup at a ball game...). The one I DID get on film Im going to share with that other site....I hope it's funny enough.

Got my Cookie today. Gonna get the cd ripped tomorrow to my computer. ~grinz widely~ Also bought a pretty wreath to replace the spring one that was beside my door (I took that down a couple weeks ago because it was just too cold out for it to make any sense in being there). I'll take a picture when I get it put up which wont be until after Thanksgiving. We also got the Christmas cards for this year, mostly because neither wanted to dig them out of the storage unit. All I have to do now is get the ones for family (parents, grandparents, etc), get them filled out and ready to send the first week of December (I hope I have all the addies I need...prolly not though...maybe I'll hear from the others via email before then).

Well the snow showers that they were promising us? It was a tease for sure. There was just enough in the air to see there was precip coming down BUT not enough to stick or show up on my camera for a video...*poutz*

I'm so disappointed in myself. Will I beat myself up about this? Nope. Notta chance. Why? Because earlier today I was vacuuming the bedroom, and hubby was holding the mattress and boxspring off the frame up so I could get underneath (mostly because the damned dog likes to rip up tissues and the cat strews the shreds everywhere). While standing under the mattress vacuuming, I felt a twinge in my lower back and almost dropped to the floor. I've had a heating patch on my back ever since. I decided an hour or so ago that I'd see if I was well enough to pedal anyhow, I mean after all it was my back and I'd be seated in a semi-reclined position right? So I started off slow, just in case....a ways into the ride I kicked up a little because it felt ok. Next thing I know, I have some pain so I back off a bit. I started feeling better a bit later and kick it in again and *bam* some pain. So basically, I'm really kinda lucky I got the ride in at all tonight. On the plus side, even with this problem tonight...I still was going faster than the first night on tension level 2...which is good.

Today while we were out (I had to go and get bloodwork done again), I saw a few license plates we could have fun with. Unfortunately, I was unarmed and had to make due with a pen and paper....

HURL GRL (and she's proud of this?)
TWNS & 3 (that explains the minivan it was on....gotta team in the making there)
BUSY B4 (this one was on one of those newer VW Beetles....in bright yellow and bee decor)

and my absolute favorite...I wish it was on our car:

PLZ SNOW

Word is that we may actually get some snow showers tonight too. I hope they're not teasing...

Today was the last day on tension level 2. Tomorrow I raise it at least a half, if not a full, step forward.

Now...to address a couple of comments that came up in previous entries. My husband had actually been thinking along the lines of ya'll....that I should do the same thing as iggy had been doing with his virtual walks. However, I know me very very well...I should, I've had to live with myself for a good 39 years+ now. I am one that likes to start projects and then the minute they begin to feel like "I have to" instead of "I want to", I drop them. A hobby no longer feels like a hobby when it begins to be more like work. As such, I have no plans at this time to do any virtual tours of any kind. However, if there is someone out there that would like to take the figures Im putting in my daily blog and use it towards a project like that or towards some kind of story (read: you're bored to high heavens and need something to do), then please feel free to do so.

Rock You Like a Hurricane- Scorpions!! WHOOOT!!

While I was going through my files here on the computer looking to weed things out and generally organize a bit, I came across this old picture of myself that I had scanned in a few months back. The picture was taken with one of those Polaroid Instamatics that were so popular at the time. I've cropped off the bottom white part but the original has "15yrs" written on it which puts this at being taken late 1984 or early 1985 and I was a sophomore in high school. The yellowish cast is thanks to the chandelier that was hanging in that room. Just past the arch is the livingroom...the door to the right led to my bedroom. I was at the age and right size to share clothes with my mom at the time so I raided her closet pretty regularly. This was one of my favorites of her dresses. Considering how Im dressed, I suspect it was one of the weekends where I was working the ticket tables for my mom in the community theatre we belonged to. I'm kinda hoping to get back down to that size again someday.....

Looks like they'll be switchin hubby's schedule in the next couple weeks. Seems they're short handed on the front end of the week and of those on his present shift, he's the best qualified for the position..... yeah...I know....I ~should~ take this as a compliment. However, it seems more like "he's on the low end of the totem pole...we'll move him". At least this is how it looks through my eyes. Anyhow...in two week's time he'll be moving to Sun-Tues and either every other Weds or every other Saturday depending on if he's nights or days. They're putting him on days at first until January. Yeah...means we get a whole month and a half of day shifts and then back to 4 months of nights. *sigh*

As we were heading out the last couple days, running me to the drs and doing our errands, I took notice of some of the trees around. A great many have lost the beautiful colored leaves and stand pretty much bare to the sky. Yesterday, this particular tree grabbed my attention. For what reason, I have no clue. I just found it really beautiful in it's starkness against the blue sky. A couple of the neighbors were out and about and Im sure that they think Im some weird bird for aiming my camera up to shoot this. With any luck, none of them have been by this Blogspot and noticed that one entry on quirks....then they'd KNOW I am weird.

While we were out, I saw several of those vanity plates. We seem to have alot of them around here. With the exception of that one I posted before, I rarely see the same one more than once. This week, I saw one that made me hungry though.... it said CZBGR. Gosh...just typing that gives me the munchies. I pretty much have decided to keep a notebook in my purse and start writing some of these plates down because they are just so fun to try and figure out. So...what does CZBGR make you think of?

EDIT: Nov 13th @ 6:37am. I'd like to wish Tori a very Happy Birthday!! Im doing it now because Im headed into bed in a few and by the time I get up, get going, get my ride in, get supper in my belly and actually write a blog entry for the day.....well, it'll be her tomorrow and I dont wanna be late sending her good wishes for the day!!

EDIT #2: 3:27pm. Reuploaded picture so it should click larger now. I forgot that if it gets moved around alot after being uploaded that it gets finicky.

biking while on drugs *gasp*!

Not a great ride today, not at all. I suspect it's because of the new medicine that the obgyn stuck me on yesterday. I'm going to need to make some adjustments (*gasps in shock*) to my daily routine if I'm to stay on it.

Today...was not really a good day. Last night I set my little Baby Ben alarm clock for 2pm so we'd be up in a decent enough amount of time to get a nice lunch before going in for my shot. I crawled into bed and fell right to sleep. I should get plenty of rest, right? Nope. I woke twice for a trip (damn friggin kidneys) and once for a phone call. The call came from the Dr's office telling me I need to do some more lab work next week. Oh great. *inserts eyeroll* The last time I was awake (for a trip) was around 1230 or 1pm. Next thing I know, my hubby is hollering me awake (as much hollerin as he can manage which ain't much)....it's 245pm.. ACK!! I checked my little alarm clock and it hadn't rung. I spun the little alarm hand around to have it ring again and it wouldn't. *sigh* Thank goodness it's cheap to replace.

We got dressed and out the door, but it was too late for anything more than a small burger from Mickie D's. I go in and get my shot and reminder from the shot nurse that the appointment scheduling isn't firm...just so long as I get there before 430pm I'd be fine, so if a full meal is what I need to make sure the shot doesn't react badly, then by all means take the time for a meal. After my appointment, we went to Glory Days for an early supper and I popped my first Metformin as I was eating (remember I was warned to take it with food due to sugar concerns). I had half my steak (it was an 8 ouncer so I wont be having anymore meat tonight), broccoli, carrots and a salad.

We went to WalMart next (I got the new Taylor Swift CD...I wish they had Christina Aguilera's too but that's only at Target). I did really well...my back didn't hurt, my sciatic didn't kick up and my knee even behaved. Then...we got to electronics. We'd been in the store for about 20-30 minutes I'm guessing. Next thing I knew, I wasn't feeling right. I was just so damn tired all of a sudden. It was like I had a really bad cold without the disadvantage of the yucky crap that comes with an illness. As we moved to the front of the store, I felt my energy just being sapped away. I told hubby I didn't feel well and wasn't sure if I was coming down with something or if it was the medicine. He said it was more than likely the meds. *sigh* We figured that in order for me to take the drug and have very little side effect, I need to make sure that the meal I have the carbs with is the meal that I take the medicine with. *makes note to another scheduling change* Within 10-15 minutes, I was extremely drowsy....to the point of wanting to crawl into my bed and going to sleep for the night (mind you, I'd only been awake for short of 4 hours...it was 630pm...). Yeah...the night owl said she wanted to be in bed by 630pm and sleep for the night...definitely something wrong.

We pulled into the Bottom Dollar to pick up a couple items and I was ready for sleep right then. Hubby came back to the truck and startled me (yep...that tired, relaxed and close to snoring)...he handed me a piece of gum (and not the sugar free kind) and said to see if that would help...which it did. We've decided that we need to put orange juice in the house and my meal with the starches needs to come first. I've also decided, due to tonight's ride, that the Metformin must come AFTER I've been on the bike for the night. I simply didn't have the energy to keep a decent pace. Next week, the meds get doubled (1 pill twice daily) and then the following week it's even more (1 pill 3 times daily). I cant remember what the dose is the the week after that. I think that's the week I can go to one 3 times a week or something. This is gonna be fun time, I can tell.

What Matters

A dear friend of mine wrote this in her MySpace blog a few days ago. The poem touched me to no end (more than likely because of that very topic in the Padded Room) and I asked her for her permission (and received it) to bring it over here to share with all of you. She says it's one of her very first poems that she's written in a very long time that, as she put it, "didn't have an ounce of 'trying to prove something to myself or anyone else' in it". I keep saying she really needs to start getting her stuff published....

what matters

when it's taken away
when the sun ceases to shine
and the order of nature is gone, gone, utterly gone
what matters is this, it was there once

when a single event changes all
when chaos ensues
and the end of something important has occurred
what matters is this, one is still alive

when someone tells you its over (or they are no longer up to it)
when there is nothing left to say
and they had stopped listening long ago it seems
what matters is this, healing has already begun

i sit on the picnic table where it all began the circle is now complete
because now i am the alone
the alone i was before that other time sitting here
with a letter in hand
feeling hope and happiness
i thought my heart would not be capable of again

what matters now is this
i was once there (it happened)
i am still alive (and able to love regardless)
my healing has already begun (it never stopped, growth is like that)
what matters now is this
i still, have and always will have the capacity to love you
nothing's changed on my part
even if it has on yours

somehow i'm richer having lived through this
somehow i am happy i had loved and, to all appearances, lost
i've lost nothing and gained so much more

I had a dr appointment today. Before leaving the TH, I got on our scales here so I'd have an idea on about how much of a difference there is between my household scales and the dr's. Nothing I hate more than thinking I weigh one thing and then being shown I weigh a bit more than planned. The nurse put me right up on the scales and I've lost more weight since last week. I weighed in at 284 today for a total of 4 pounds down from last week and 10 down from when I first met with the dietician (a total of 14 down from August!!!). I cant tell you how excited this made me. Let's just say, maybe they should have taken my blood pressure BEFORE getting on the scales. Hmm , I'd better insist on it next time because I just got so damn excited that the bp read at a 142/90! I know for a fact that if I dont put myself in a "zen" state and keep my yap shut that it shoots right up. Anyhow, if I keep this up...by the time I see the dietician again it's possible I will have lost another 10-15 pounds... *crosses fingers*

The doctor that I saw today, isnt one that I'll normally be writing about in this particular section of the blogspot. Yeah...that means in the very near future I'll be adding the Journey to Parenthood section of my blog. What I will tell you here is that she's running a series of tests on me and then will be issuing tests for hubby to take. She decided to do a few tests on me first and is sending an order for a ultrasound to be done on my ovaries FIRST...before sending him in for testing because if she was to issue his now...well let's just say she playing with loopholes right now and leave it at that. For now, she's put me on Metformin to help things out some. It's not because my sugar-levels say I need to be on it (if anything, my sugar tends to drop) as my fasting rate is in the mid-90's, but it'll help other things out. I was told that since my sugars like to drop that I am to take it with a meal. She also discussed a possibility of checking out the hormones and maybe adding something to help those out as well. She sent me off with orders to get an ultrasound done on my ovaries and to make an appointment with her when it's been done.

I was also sent to the lab today (good thing I hadnt eaten beforehand eh?) to play with the vampires. Man, I hate going to the lab. Goodness gracious the list of things she wanted tested!! I dont even recognize many of them. I do recognize the one for prenancy....that result came back already...it's negative, again *sigh*. I see she's got a test in for my sugar..oh wait...I think I recognize the one for the thyroid and liver functions... that would be for a baseline as the Metformin is liable to mess with those readings. They ended up taking 7...count them SEVEN...vials of blood from me. Do you think my veins would cooperate today? Oh of course not. They were the most uncooperative buggers ever today and it took 3 different nurses attempting to get it done. Two tried in my right and the other in my left and ya know, my right arm looks more of a mess than the left arm. How fun! Oh and tomorrow's shot day......

Ok...so THIS was the leisurely ride...LOL. To be honest, I had a last minute appointment today at 530pm (it was time to cover up the metallic highlights again) and considering that it's getting chillier here, knew I wouldnt have time to shower after my pedaling trip so I didnt want to get too terribly sweaty before going (quirk #15, I let my hair dry naturally so I dont own a hairdryer). I also knew that it was going to be after 8pm before coming home and I wasnt likely to want to pedal when I got home. I figure since I pedal every single day and dont have a day off (it's been over 20 days folks!) that one day of a slower pace wasnt going to kill me so long as I dont make it a habit. Just means I better be up to pace tomorrow!

Just a nice leisurely ride today.... lol.

Ok so while I was making my second pass through the blogs yesterday, I came across Wife o Riley's entry: http://wifeoriley.blogspot.com/2008/11/some-call-it-crazyi-call-it-quirkyyou.html and knowing my quirks, I figured it would just be easier to put them in here. I could have put them in there but they really can be numerous and depending on the situation at had, sometimes the quirks have their own quirks..or is it the quirks are modified? Did that make sense? Probably not. Ah Well. Anyhow, here's a good deals of my quirks and their exceptions/modifications/or whatever. You'll notice many are food based, most unfortunately. If you've already read these before, then just skip onto the next blog...it's ok...I dont mind...*sobs softly feeling neglected* LOL

01) Whenever possible while eating, I eat in even numbers. Cookies, crackers, candies....french fries, wings... There are many exceptions to this rule though.
A) If it's a full size candy bar, I'll eat only the one.....fun-sizes must be in even numbers.
B) M&Ms and Skittles (or anything else with many colors) must be separated by color and eaten (in pairs naturally) by least favorite color to most favorite color.

1 Exception....Skittles and flavored candies are eaten not just by color but by flavor, least favor first.

C) Fruits and veggies are eaten with the same rules above. Ears of corn, just 1....corn niblets, even numbers. Same with meats....steak just 1, wings or chicken nuggets in even numbers. Ice cubes dont even escape this...well at home at least. Nothing I can do about drinks in restaurants.

All odd numbers are given either to hubby or the dog (kitty doesnt really enjoy alot of human food so it's a waste)....except candies...those go to just hubby.

02) No matter where we are, whether it be home or a motel or someone's house, I must sleep on the side of the bed closest to the bathroom due to the possiblity of nighttime trips. As I get older, these trips are sometimes a bit more frequent than I'd care to have.

03) No matter where we are, whether it be home or a motel or someone's house, I must sleep on the side of the bed farthest from the air conditioning unit (any fan in the room cannot be simed directly on me while Im sleeping either) because I tend to come down sick.
A) Exception to rules 02 & 03: In the case of the ac unit/fan being on the same side of the room as the bathroom, rule number 03 supercedes rule 02. I'd much rather have to take an extra few steps to the bathroom than to be more miserable than usual the next day.

04) I have a certain pattern to my day (stop laughing at me iggy) and if I dont follow this pattern....my whole day feels thrown off and I feel rushed. Tuesdays have been particularly trying for me as I've had to get my mind set for a new scheduling. Now, I dont have to do anything at a specific TIME...just in a set order.

05) When I've had a bad day, I crave mint chocolate chip icecream. It's the only time I really really want it. Any other time, I could care less if it's available or not.

06) I have season specific cravings in the line of sweets. Halloween is the only time I want candy corn, peppermint sticks are Christmas, etc etc

07) I ~LOVE~ to color. You stick a coloring book and crayons (or colored pencils) in front of me and Im pretty much all over it (how'd my SIL put it? Oh yeah) like white on rice.

08) When I am tired, I'll fall asleep. It doesnt matter where or when it is....car, office, livingroom...sitting up, lying on the floor (which used to be a common spot for me while watching tv), etc. Mom always said that I could fall asleep at the drop of a hat...any hat...stetson, party hat, beenie ...etc.

09) I sleep, for the most part, on one side of the bed. Even if I have a whole big bed to myself...I always sleep on one edge.

10) I still fold clothes the way my mom taught me to...even if it doesnt quite fit where it has to go. It's one of the reasons why I never did well working in the domestics department of any given store, because I simply couldnt learn how to fold the stuff in the department the way specified in the the company standards.

11) I still collect stuffed animals.

12) I still love animated features (cartoons) and comics.

13) I speak almost fluently in cat. Each cat has his/her own voice and I usually can mimick them well enough to get them to come over and meow back.

14) I dont get along with too many people my own age. I generally get along better with people a little bit older than me.

Im sure there's many more, however I just finished riding a little bit ago and my brain simply isnt working correctly right now.

Man I need to get one of these!

I wonder if it can be modified for what I need.
Have to admit, it'd be a whole lot less messy than the hot oil that had been suggested.....

ride and a memory

Another record breaker today.

Man and wife eating supper and the wife says--Today I had to file a workplace violence report. My nose was assaulted by a co-worker's perfume.
I saw this comic back in October and boy did it bring back a memory. In January 1988, I started the second job on my resume. I was hired on by the local KMart. It was my first full-time job and I was excited to be there. Just about everyone in my section of the store was really nice and most of us got along well. Of course, quite a few of us had our individual ummm quirks. At the time, the fitting rooms were separated, mens in the boys department and the womens in the lingerie department. Also at that time, the work tables wasnt an island out in the open with the customers but enclosed with the fittingrooms. Needless to say, it was rather tight quarters and could get quite warm back there at times. When it's overly warm, one tends to perspire somewhat. It's one of the reasons I dont ever wear perfume of any kind at a job. The most you'll find me using is a baby powder scented deodorant if I have to work. I really wish everyone would do the same to be honest. There was this one slightly older lady (mind you I was 18 at the time and the woman in question was roughly in her 50's at least) that I swear lost her sense of smell. This woman insisting on marinating in whatever it was that she'd spritz on daily. Worse yet, she'd marinate again at lunch so there must have been a gallon of the stuff on her....and she wondered why I never wanted to work in the stockroom with her. Everytime we had to work together, I'd ask her if she'd rather do the "run-backs" (putting the discarded try-ons and the returns back to the floor) OR if she'd like to stay with the fittingroom and make new tickets for the items that needed them. On nights that her feet hurt, I did run-back and nights that she was full of energy she did them. Personally, I preferred being in the fitting room reticketing and hanging stuff. Either way, working near her could be impossible because the scent alone was enough to give me a headache. Maybe I should have filed a workplace violence report?

"I've already got a religion, thanks, I dont really need another..." I think that's how my SIL has it on her page. *makes note to go check*

Well

Yeah that's all I gotta say for now. At least until later after my sleep cycle and biking. Looks like Im not alone though because I found these online:

Not as good as yesterday , but still burning rubber. Oh and YAY!!!! While I was getting my shot today, I wandered down the hall to where my dietician's office is to set my appointment. I was supposed to set it right after my appointment with her but I was so disgusted with myself that day that I didnt bother. Since 2 weeks have passed, I told the receptionist to set it for somewhere between 2-4 weeks. I have an appointment on Dec 1st (*checks hubby's schedule...oh dang Im gonna have to reschedule that because he has class that day*). I got talking with the receptionist and was telling her I couldnt wait to get on the scales because I KNEW I'd lost weight. She told me to just pop on back and use the scales now if I like. I was sceptical about if I really should because I'd already had a full meal today (3oz steak, 2 eggs, a bowl of oatmeal and an English muffin)....unfortunately, this cant be helped because it looks like I really do need that full meal before my shots. Laugh if you will, but the reactions arent as bad if I've eaten a full meal beforehand (as opposed to a small snack). I got on the scale anyhow. Since I started riding my bike and adjusting my eating habits I've lost 6 pounds. Better yet, since the "non-appointment" in August..... *whispers excitedly* I lost 10..... SQUEE!!!

So I went out and did my civic duty today. I had to laugh though. They had volunteers out front of the polling place doing their last minute shovingoftheliteratureinyourface dances as is typical for election day. They had both sides staked out so there was absolutely no where to go but straight down the walk between the two of them. We were slightly closer to the one so I manuevered hubby so he was between us as a buffer. I was right to do so because not only was that one the first to approach us, but he was also the Democrat. Considering the problems we've been having with the excessive harrassment from that party, we can all agree that it was a very good idea (not to mention damn lucky) that I put hubby there because it would have gotten ugly....very Very VERY ugly. The laughing part comes here....the Republican, seeing that my husband had waved off the Democrat hauled ass over to perform his dance only to get a firm wave off from me. That's right, I made my choice. My choice more than likely wont win but the choice was MINE....not because someone killed a tree to shove litter in my face and NOT because I got harrassed on the phone (and yes, all those calls amounts to harrassment).

I do feel sorry for anyone that got turned away today because
they didnt have the proper documentation. This poor little PCHA was evidentally turned away after waiting several hours in line. Someone failed to tell him the early voting for the non-residents was yesterday. Poor guy.
We took a drive into Gainesville today to buy some stuff for hubby's hobby and boy were the leaves out that way extra pretty! It's too bad we had a grey day with light drizzle because I think they would have been fantastic with the sun out. Im posting just one of the shots I got. I chose this because it had the leaves of one of the bright red trees in it as well as the yellows and oranges in the back. Seems I caught another green-boxy alien lurking about as well. The only touch ups I did to any of these pictures is run them through an auto correct in a picture program so yeah, those leaves were really that bright even in the grey gloom of the day.

We went to WalMart after the dr's office as per normal and I found this really cute hooded zip front sweat jacket. The one that caught my eye was hanging in the wrong location and was a size too big but I was too lazy to go see if they had any more. The way I figure it, this way I can layer something else underneath and not worry about it getting too tight. Besides the print was just way too cute!!! a blue hooded sweatshit with Eeyore on it and it says Oh no not again!!
Oh...and when we got home....we found ANOTHER flier from the same friggin political party in the door. Mind you, we threw the one from this morning out so this is TWICE today they visited. Maybe it's a good thing I wasnt home.....

*(%(&%(*&^(*!!!!!!!

King and queen on top of their castle. The king's stirring something nasty and black in a huge cauldron. As he stirs, he says to his queen....Of course it tastes terrible! It's for pouring and iggy's adjusted it to say over the heads of door to door campaign scum.
You'll have noticed that I've been making my rounds a whole lot sooner today than is usual. Why? Because some freakin zealot who's been dippin in the freakish Kool-Aid was (to borrow a term from my dear friend Marmie) banging his nuts off on my door.....at 11*(^)*&%&%^am this morning. Did I mention that I didnt get to bed until 6am (which is early for me these days) and I dont sleep well as it is??? I wanna thank iggy for the above cartoon he'd adjusted. He sent it a couple days ago and I've figured to hang on to it until the 2012 elections. Im beginning to wish I'd printed it out last night. Not that it woulda made a difference. Jerks been at my door EVERYDAY now....
The phone calls have mercifully stopped though. Oh, wait, I remember why now....I unplugged the bugger Saturday night. Good thing too. Hubby got on the Comcast site to see out "missed calls" and there were about 15 for yesterday alone and one already this morning....I've only been up since 1130am when the ()&*&*( was ringing my doorbell.....
Well today's shots day...and banking day....and WalMart day.....and voting day....and and and
so I best get my move on if I plan on getting some grub beforehand......

OCHA #4: All I can say is that squirrel better not eat it all before we get there. If he does, Im gonna nip his nuts.
OCHA #5: Hey...did someone remember the directions?
OCHA #1: Yeah, they're right here. But I think Mapquest.com messed up again.
OCHA #3: Hang on, I'll double check on my laptop
OCHA #3: Oh man, the squirrel's already there!
OCHA #2: How do you know?
OCHA #3: Because that cheeky little bugger's picture is already up on the celebration pix at http://makingsmallthoughtfulblogentries.blogspot.com/
OCHA #4: That's it, his nuts are as good as nipped!
OCHA #1: Ummm, #4 are you sure you're headed NORTH to Norristown, Pa? I could swear that sign just said Atlanta.....
OCHA #3: Oh hell. Now we really ARE gonna be late!!

OOOOOOhhh I got new BLING!! I got my Superior Scribble award from Chicagolady over at I Don’t Care What You Say Anymore, This is My Life . Thank you thank you thanks you!!!!

You like me , you REALLY LIKE me!! Oh damn, sorry...I was channelling my inner Sally Field for a minute. I think Im over it now. ~GRINZ~ Hell no.

OOops...sorry...that last bit was my inner Leo speaking. Ok, so I can't help myself!

It's hard to come up with someone new to send these to because many of us follow the same blogs. However, I think I have a few that I think are very worthy of receiving this award too (and many are much more deserving!!). Feel free to drop in and visit them and let them know I sent ya! In no particular order are:

First nominee is Dorky Ramos over at http://dryastoast.blogspot.com/ . I wandered into her blog via iggy's so Im a relatively new reader there but so far I've liked what I see.

Second nominee is Rayne over at http://crunchybits.blogspot.com/. I can't remember whose blog I was in when I wandered over there. I think the first entry of hers I read was the one on doodling.

Third nominee is Kaylee over in http://kaylee2.wordpress.com/. This little lady is going through much more than anyone should really have to and her blog entries reflect this. How she manages to keep an upbeat personality anyhow is beyond me.

Fourth nominee is Pam over in http://thedustwillwait.blogspot.com/. Now that I think of it, I may have found Rayne through this blog. Pam participates in many memes so you never can be sure what you're going to see in her blog. You can be certain that it's going to be interesting.

Fifth nominee is Misty Dawn at http://camera-critters.blogspot.com/ . She runs a particularly fun meme about our furry friends. The pictures are absolutely wonderful.

Other nominees that can accept this award (although Im sure many wont because I rarely post over on their sites but I do follow religiously) are:

Karen at http://firefinch-karen.blogspot.com/ (assuming Tori didnt give her one)

MARZ at http://touchingmeisafederalcrime.blogspot.com/ (again assuming one hasnt been given yet)

Luke Menard at http://officiallukemenard.blogspot.com/

I ~think~ everyone else in my reading list has gotten one but Im not overly certain....if you have consider that you've gotten one too.

Twas the Night Before Elections

I received this via email from my mom and no, Im not sure where she got it from.

Twas the Night Before Elections

'Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!

I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!

He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink

He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!

" On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi"
He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

I make no apologies for my views. If you didnt like this, oh well dont bother leaving a comment. The exit is over there >>>>>

Dont let the door hit ya on the butt on the way out.

today's ride

Ok...Im thoroughly pissed. I had a huge long entry done from the laptop downstairs and all I had to do was add the proper coding up stairs for the links I had and *just* LOST the entry I spent 2 hours on. I quit for tonight. I may do it tomorrow, I may not. Dont care at this point...so fk it.

new tension, feeling good, Christmas wishes

A nice modest beginning if I do say so myself. That half step up I really felt though for the first few miles. The bad knee complained a bit more than usual, the arches and another muscle located elsewhere on my body took to grumbling some but no more than they did the first several days of riding so they should be fine in a bit.

Before I started riding, moving around was extremely uncomfortable. Just a short walk in WalMart was enough to make the bad knee attempt to go out on me, the sciatic nerve would pinch up, my ankles and feet would complain (loudly) and the small of my back would bother me. Actually, just getting up and doing household chores would get all that to flare up. I've noticed in just the two short weeks or so that I've been biking that none of that is quite as bad. The knee hasnt given out not once although it grinds some still...especially while pedalling or taking the stairs. The sciatic nerve hasnt flared up and neither has the back...it's all a bit tight after riding but after it feels fine. Neither act up while Im out shopping and I find Im not leaning on the shopping cart as much (if at all). All in all, Im feeling pretty damned good considering Im twice the weight I really should be. Im really not missing the sweets as much as I thought I would.... Oh my, maybe I shoulda warned a couple of you to sit down before I said that....Im sorry, my bad. Dont get me wrong, I miss them..just not as bad as I *thought* I would.

So...what else ya'll wanna talk about? Let's see...we've had entries on wishes and being thankful. Oh how about Christmas? Dont groan...it's only a few weeks ago and any good shopper either has it done or is out getting odds and ends now. So today's questions are:

What item(s) are topping your wishlist for Christmas?

Now...unlike the wishes meme, this is your chance to go ahead and get materialistic. What would make you squeal like a little kid if you found it (them) under your tree this year?

Which of the items you are pretty sure will arrive there and which one(s) are just a pipedream?

Topping my list are:
01) A Bamboo by Wacom. Ohhh that would make me ~SQWEE!~ in a way that only a Bo Bice or David Cook cd could (oh forget the cd...gimme the dude in the flesh!!). Considering how much I like making banners and such, this would be a good investment too. Im pretty sure this one is going to arrive this year....even if I have to get it myself with the money that gets sent from his folks.

02) A new digital camera. Not sure which one I'd like to have. I do know it's gotta be better quality than the one I have now with a higher pixel count and better zoom. It's gotta fire up faster too BUT it still needs to be very easy to use. Im almost certain this will arrive but if it comes down between this and number 1....wel number 1 better be the one that shows up!

03) A Bowflex gym. Ok, considering the lack of space Im going to say this is a no...nevermind the cost of it which makes it a pipedream. Oh but it would be so nice to have one to add on to my exercise routine!

Ok...your turn!
