This is the 4th time since we moved into this townhouse (a bit over 2 months now??) that we've had tornado watches/ warnings in or around our area....mind you...we aint in "Tornado Alley". May as well be at this rate though!!! Top things all off...oh ya'll ~LOVE~ this one. At 7:55pm we got the beeps on tv to change the station to 21 for an alert...so I change over and it's a TORNADO WARNING for Fairfax....a bit down the road but damn well close enough for me. It was "issued" (those quotes will become apparant in a sec) for 6:32-7:33pm. I'll wait til you recheck the time on that....a bit LATE dontcha think???? Not a couple minutes later we got another warning so I turn it to channel 21 and it's ANOTHER TORNADO WARNING timed for 6:37-7:45pm. I look at my watch and it says 8pm. I turn to hubby and said..."ya know...a fkn tornado could be heading down mid-town Manassas and we wouldnt know it for 30 more minutes!" The question now is...is Comcast fkn stupid everywhere...or just in Virginia?

I'm not sending them, and the reason is because we've had no tornado warnings here.

And I think Comcast is *that* way everywhere. Of course the gubbermint folks might not be sending the notices to/via Comcast in a timely fashion - remember FEMA?

I don't recall the last time we got a really bad (beyond a leveled house) around these parts... Its been at least a half dozen years or more.

Tornado Stats shows them to be cyclic - and most of them happen out in the western part of the state. Interesting stats... but I wonder what happened after 1995? :)

That's good to know, I suppose. Today we had huge storms show up. Again tornado warnings. NOT ONE ALERT on the tv...I found out by looking out the window and via an email from hubby (who sent me info from the weather.com)....go figure. Maybe I should get one of those redneck barometers...ya know, the ones with a donkey pictured and a rope tail? At least it would be a helluva lot more accurate....

Well - if it helps - when I was in Canada we had a few Tornado warnings. Needless to say, I got rather worried (not used to them... Tornados almost never happen here). Anyway, I got quite worried and was told not to worry because they almost never come to much. Turned out that actually was the case.

Don't know if that makes you feel any better, but I figure it "might" help.

I saw the tornado warnings on the tv tonight and thought of you hoping none came your way. I think I heard where one actually touched down someplace in Virginia. (i think...was busy cleaning up the table and washing dishes and wasn't listening all that closely)

LMAO at the redneck weather gauge! I saw one in a magazine just this evening. Thought to myself, now who would actually buy one of these? Now I know...

*looks at his redneck weather gauge and slowly and silently, hoping to be very inconspicuous, takes it down and slips it into a desk drawer out of sight*

There seems to be a storm alley that runs from baltimore across the bay, into Middletown, DE - every time we get rain here, they get hail and torrents. I guess the mountains funnel the stuff through there.

I keep my tv tuned into the weather channel. We also have a great local news station that keeps us informed about inclement weather.

Hmmm... the tail on my redneck weather gauge donkey is very HOT to the touch today and its hanging pretty much straight down - so not much breeze here.

Shrugs, the durn thing works pretty good.
