I'm truly and absolutely spoiled

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it a couple times before. In case I haven't, I'll say it again.

I am sooooo incredibly spoiled.

I have some of the best buddies in the world. Considering I have friends in at least 4 countries, I don't feel that's too much of an exaggeration. It's not, is it? Well anyhow, in the days leading up to "F-Day" we started with a kick-ass party over at iggy's blog, where a rowdy time was had by all... especially by a certain stoned OCHA, who will remain nameless in my blog, that professed that what she was smoking was for "medical purposes only". Well, at that was her story and she's still sticking to it.

Then on Saturday an envelope showed up from iggy with not one, but 2 cards in it. The post-it note enclosed said that he couldn't decide which one to send so I was getting a two-fer. I have to laugh because apparently I did a very good job of hiding my "natal day". One of the cards got signed with a smiley face sticking its tongue out in a :P~~ fashion. Must be because I wouldn't give up my birthdate. So? I'm just a little sensitive about my age, even if it IS only a number.

Our truck was still in the repairshop and since they close before hubby normally gets out of work, well he had to leave a bit early. He swung by the shop in the early afternoon, on his way home from work. They didn't have it done yet but they were looking at about another 30 minutes or so. YAY!

He told me how long it was going to take for the truck when he got home and I started to get ready. I can usually be ready in about 20 minutes or so depending on where we're going. He went downstairs to take the pooch out while I finished up. When I came downstairs, imagine my surprise when I see the most beautiful bouquet of flowers and a card sitting on the laptop waiting for me to notice them.

They are the most GORGEOUS shades of pink and peach. Who cares if they're artificial? They're not the cheesy fakes either, they look real from a distance. He said he figured he hadn't gotten me flowers in a very long time (and he hadn't) and that I'd like these better because they wouldn't die off in a week's time. Have I ever mentioned that he's got the most exquisite taste when it comes to stuff like this?
He gives me these gorgeous flowers so I figure that the card's gonna be one of those mushy ones that he's prone to getting. Nope. My baby knows me too damned well.
The cover of the card says, If someone comes up to you and asks, so what's it feel like to be 40? Then you open it and it says,Take a 2x4, swat them in the head, and say..Oh...alot like that. Under his signature he's written, sounds like what my baby would do. And then signed it with a smiley face.
It was a beautiful day out. Not too sunny, not too cloudy and plenty of sunrays poking through the clouds.I think they look so pretty like that.

I glanced over at our neighbor's yard on our way out and saw the prettiest rose sitting right by the fence so I grabbed a snap of it. This is the adjusted version of the picture. I saturated the heck of it to get the colors to pop.
Our first stop was to the repair shop (remember it was supposed to be 30 minutes from the time he left there the first time and it took me about 20 to get ready and another 5 or so to deal with my pressy), figuring that the truck would be ready... right? Nope. They were doing a second flush on the radiator because it was so yucky and there were a couple last minute things to do. We ended up waiting 90 minutes for them to finish up. I won't grouse though because it was exceptionally busy that afternoon AND they HAD let us borrow the company truck.

That truck cost us $200+ (closer to the $250 end of that) to repair this time. *sigh* It could have been worse though, the bill actually was closer to $350 but the owner knocked $100 off the bill for us. I guess we must be good for his business...

Hubby took me to Chili's for lunch and then we popped over to Michael's to check on some craft items I'm wanting. Unfortunately, they don't have anything for Christmas out quite yet and the stretch canvases aren't in the size I'm wanting. In fact, they don't have a single square canvas. All rectangular ones with a few round and oval ones. I guess I'm gonna need to go to JoAnn's this week and check them out. I know from their web site that the fabric I'm looking for is carried there, now the question is if they have it in stock. I also noticed that they had the square canvases. They aren't in the size I'm wanting (16"x16"), but there's only a 2" difference (18"x18") and I'm hoping it won't look too bad. I think I'll just buy one and hang it on the wall next to the others to see how it looks. If it looks bad, I can always do something else with it. I've got some ideas floating around anyhow. I really hope that they have a head start on the Christmas ornaments too. Either the glass or the flat plaster ones would be nice right about now.

When we got home, we just chilled. Well...and I painted my nails

Glambert Blue!

When I got up the next day and started catching up in the blogs, I found a very nice surprise on Alice's site. Since her blog is private, I'm not going to leave a link because many of you won't be able to see her page anyhow. However, with her permission, I've done a screen cap of the entry that I saw the next day waiting for me.
Aint it pretty?

Ooooh and today? I got a wonderful handmade card in my favorite color (PURPLE) from my friend Queenie Jeannie. So considering the festivities started in iggy's blog on Tues the 28th and I got my card from Jeannie on August 5th...my birthday has lasted over a week!

just some pictures

I took these a few weeks back, just after our last cold snap. I'd meant to post them but by the looks of my edit section, I got sidetracked several times over. They were all taken while we were headed in to Logan's Restaurant for lunch. The retention pond was all frozen over yet they still had the fountains running. The geese were all up on the ice near the main road while the gulls were walking where ever they felt like being. The first shot below was actually the last shot I took. As I was snapping shots of the birds, I heard hubby say "That would make a neat shot". When I looked down I saw these awesome tracks...

a little of this, a little of that...thankyouverymuch

Thank you for the kind words in the previous entry. . After seeing some of the responses out there, I personally think it comes across as really shallow as I look at it and see alot of me me me me written. It took hours to draft it and word things just right. I ended up working it backwards because I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted in the last grouping. When I got to the careers one, I nearly stalled out. I found out that one of the jobs I'd had before was quite a bit like a dream job and I really wish I was back at it. I had minimal management hanging over my shoulder and I was pretty much left to deal with things as I saw fit....and I was damn good at the job. Things have changed with that particular chain of stores though and the job is nothing like it was before so Im not certain how well I'd enjoy that work anymore.

The travelling one was hard to condense what I'd wish for down so it fit the parameters of the exercise. Once I realized that a good many of my wishes there dealt with me talking to myself....I just kinda lumped them into one. Cheating, maybe, but all were important and some alot more telling than others. The first section was actually the hardest of all of them. Most of what I truly wish for pretty much fits in the last sections of the questionnaire. The first section was also the section I was most afraid would come off terribly shallow....because that's where it would be the easiest place to do it.

On to other things. Sunday we got my new bike put together and I've been really faithful at my recumbent bike all set up and ready to ridegetting on the bugger daily. Over the last 5 days, my average mph has gone from a 12.88 to a 15.72. Actually, it's more like a 16.42 if you don't count the very first day because the seat wasnt really set at the proper spot for me to pedal comfortably (it was set for slightly longer legs). I am being really good at making sure to do my pedalling for 30 minutes a day. It's not straight through as I sometimes need a break or three along the way.

This week's shot wasnt all that bad. I had very minimal reaction to it for a change and it didnt itch into the next day which was great. The nurse had been in touch with the dr covering for my allergist and they'd said that if Im having reactions into the next day and later that I need to repeat the dosage until there is hardly any reaction ( a lump 10 mm or SMALLER and barely any itching). What's this mean? It means that more than likely 2-3 weeks of the same dosages until the body adjusts. The nurse told me she's seen some whose bodies would fight an fight and then all of a sudden everything gets to be smooth sailing so who knows. I've noticed, however, that when I catch a meal beforehand there is barely any reaction at all. I told her about it and suggested she may keep it in the back of her mind for the next patient that comes along and has problems. This week I ate before I got the shot and will do it again next week. I dont know if it's coincidence or not but if it helps Im all for it right about now.

license plate on a vehicle that says 2SHAYWhile we were in the dr's office I saw a vanity license plate that was too cute. The question I have is, is it written that way because the vehicle was a gift to a loved one named or with the nickname Shay? OR is it entirely possible this vehicle was gotten by divorce or other means and the plate is simply a cutesy way of saying touche (pronounced too-shay)? I see other really neat plates around here. On Tuesday I saw one I wish I had thought of getting for my husband's truck....it said "No Beans". *laffz*

The folliage has been quite lovely here, now that it's decided to get cold enough for a majority of smallish trees with yellow leaves, half of which have already fallen to the groundthe leaves to turn. The trees around the doctor's office have lost about half their leaves already. What a change in a week's time that was. Is it me or are the days going by really fast? Seems like it was just a few weeks ago we moved in here and now nearly 8 months have passed. Im hearing that some points north have been getting snow inducing temps already so it shouldnt be to much longer here. Already were getting days in the 50s and 60s with 40s overnight.

Sometime last week ago or so I grabbed a picture of the Logan's Logan's restaurant as shot from the road, all 3 fountains visible in the retention pondrestaurant as seen from the road. The covered area to the right is outdoor seating. The parking is around the rear of the building and that porch wraps almost clear around the building. I think we'll be going to lunch there tomorrow after we go in for our flu shots. Usually I try to time all my dr visits for the beginning of the week. However, since Im having allergy shots, I cant have any other kind of shot on the same day. In fact, there's a 96 hour buffer zone where I cant get any shots of any kind. From 48 hours beforehand to 48 hours afterwards, Im a shotfree zone. Since the dr's office has a walk in clinic for shots only on M-W-F for the flu shots....this leaves me only Fridays when I can go in for my shot. *sigh* Not that I truly WANT another needle, I do know that it will be good for me in the long run. Especially since I tend to catch colds and illnesses really quick.

I was reading in Jess's blog the other day and she chose to write about the fun and benefits of sunglasses. Kudos on the entry dear. You are completely right with the connection on sunlight a wood box for outgoing mail, painted blue and lettered OUT in white with 5 sunglasses hanging off it within reach of the front doorand cararacts. My now ex ended up developing those on both eyes in his mid-30s. I always suspected that it was because we'd moved to Louisiana and even in the bright sun he refused to wear some eye protection. Prescription glasses were too expensive and he refused to wear the ones that would go over his glasses and wrap around the sides. Anyhow, I treat sunglasses like jewelry. I have several pairs hanging by the door, a pair on hubby's desk for repair and spare pairs in each of the 2 vehicles. There are a total of 8 pairs I believe. One is even a fun leopard print and one pair has a rosy tint to them. The rose ones are used on cloudy days. Oh wait...I have 9 pairs! There is a light blue tinted pair on my desk for when the monitor is bothering my eyes.

Full moon partially covered in clods with a red tint in the skyBecause of the hours we are running over here, it's gotten to be a bit of a squeeze getting things done on Tuesdays anymore. I've taken to getting my shots a bit later in the day so hubby can have a couple extra hours of sleep. On a normal Tuesday, we'd taken to getting my shot then going to supper then to WalMart and finally to the grocery store. Well we discovered a couple weeks ago that this was simply going to have to be reworked if we were going to be home for our shows at 8pm. A couple of weeks ago, before we'd adjusted the schedule somewhat, we'd just pulled into the grocery store when I looked up and saw the most beautiful moon I'd seen in a while.

just mishmosh

Not much going on here in Virginia. We had some interesting weather this last week. One day we had winds so strong that branches came down in the area. Thankfully we didnt lose power. The winds were roughly about 50+ mph. A couple of days ago we had rain that swiftly turned to ice because a cold front came in right in the middle of the storm. Unfortunately we were caught outside in it. By the time we got back to the apartment the sidewalks were slicked over really well. Let's just say it was so icy...that it took me 5 minutes to get the the staircase to get to my apartment. The stairs are like 2-3 steps away from the parkinglot, and the sidewalk I had to cross to get them is slightly slanted towards the street so it's a slight uphill walk to them. Needless to say with my bad knees the step up to the sidewalk is a bitch on a normal day. Hubby had to get on the grass and pull me up onto the sidewalk so I could get to the grass and then we spent a minute or so helping a neighbor over in the same way. Thank goodness the stairs are sheltered from precipitation (unless it comes in horizontally, then we're fkd).

Found another great restaurant a couple weeks ago. We've been there twice now. It's called Glory Days Grill. The Tuesday before we tried it out for the first time. Timing is an issue with the place as it doesnt open until 4pm and usually we like to catch lunch around 2-3pm and generally eat out then. By suppertime (around 8pm for us), we've got all our running done and are at the apartment. The food was great though and service was awesome. We noticed (after we put the order in that Tuesday was a ribs special ...well damn. So we went last Tuesday for the ribs special. The ribs werent bad but they werent exactly the best either. Chilis and TGIFridays have the best. Well honestly Tony Roma's has the best but I think they've mostly closed down. Now THAT place knew how to do ribs...and the warm wet napkins they brought so you could wipe your face and hands with to clean up afterwards..? Heaven.

Hubby and I are getting antsy to get into our new place. It'll be nice to finally get into some semblance of normalcy for a change...if you can call this schedule normal. LOL. At least I wont have 3 flights to climb up and down daily, just the one to get to our second floor. Plus we'll be near some shopping and sidewalks so I can get out assuming the neighborhood is any good to be walking in alone...not that it matters as we're there for 2 years. Good thing is the lease is signed for 2 years which I believe means the rent cannot go up in that time frame. Here's a picture of the outside of the unit. I'll be taking more pix once we get in. Hubby took some of the backyard too that I can post later. It's not a really big yard but definitely larger than some of the patios you see with apartments. We dont need much of one, just enough to let Katy work off some of her energy. It's gated too so I can pretty much put her out and not have to worry about her leaving the yard.

Oh and we were out to Applebees the other night. It took them 20 minutes to get a waitress to our table. Talk about starting to be upset. Thankfully the floor supervisor managed to get to the table before my temper actually got flaired and apologized for the delay, they were a bit short staffed. However, since it took so long to get to us he was offering free appetizers because of the wait. Well since we were getting the 3 course special...we ended up getting both appetizers, both desserts and one of the meals in it's entirety free. The entire meal cost us less than half that what we normally spend there on a date night. Awesome.

I have about a third of my needlework piece done. With any luck I'll have it done in a couple months.LOL! I really should grab another pic of it but I think I want to get the next section done before then. I could be doing that while Im sitting here in chat listening to the tunes and watching Stargate Atlantis so maybe I'll close this out now and do just that.

Apartments, finding new eating places and the nightshift

Translation for Tori: The above pic is the comic, Cathy, and it details a day in her life starting at 7am staring at the little screen (aka her monitor) and what she's looking at and ending with her in the same spot roughly around 10pm staring at the little screen. In the last frame she's thinking "My universe got so big, but my world got so puny." Hmmm maybe that would make a good one for my next banner.... LOL

Wow, has it been nearly a week since my last post? It's hard to believe. To be honest I dont even think I could begin to tell you how the time has passed either. It's hard being limited to just the laptop and having to share the time as I tend to lose track of what happened when. I can tell you that I've caught every episode of American Idol so far and have been blogging it over in MySpace. Im not sure about anyone else, but I've been truly underwhelmed. Of the nights we've seen, there have been ~maybe~ 2 good nights out of the bunch and even then the auditioners havent been the best. There's simply not enough there to make me go wow. Personal opinion, I dont believe we've seen the winner audition yet and Im still saying it is the year of the African-American male to win.

Saturday we went to see that one apartment that I mentioned in my previous entry. The two bedroom was nice but a trifle claustrophobic for me. The larger of the 2 bedrooms would have been only large enough for the bed, 2 endtables and the dresser with barely enough room to get in and out of the bed comfortably. The smaller of them was just a little over half that size. Let's not go into how large the bathroom makes me feel. The shower area isnt even the size of what we came out of in Texas. I'd be lucky to fit a leg in the tub so I can tell you there'll never be a bath in that tub unless the dog is the one having it. Yeah, I see it now, showers are going to be a joy and a half.

Sunday was a lazy day and we didnt even leave the apartment. No sense in it because not many of the apartment complexes are open on a Sunday.

Between Monday and Tuesday we did the grocery shopping, checked out another complex (this one had AWESOME prices but a 5 MONTH waiting list to get in!!!) and went back to check out a three bedroom in the previous complex. The three bedroom was much nicer but the bathroom was still one that isnt going to be pleasant using due to the size. I feel like I have to bend in half to use the sink and I swear the tub isnt much bigger than one of my shoes (and about as deep as well). The unit we saw was located at the front of the complex putting all those strip malls well within a decent, but entirely do-able, waddle distance which means I can get some exercise getting to and from work depending on the hours I end up pulling. We've put in an application at this complex and with any luck we'll get in. They ran our credit reports though and with the dings we each had...well we're keeping our fingers crossed. There were a couple that were on hubby's that concerned them and one on mine (one from back in 2000 no less!). One of his was easily handled as it had been paid off 4 years ago (yeah this is a good ad for checking your credit file yearly y'all) and the other is in the process of being dealt with. Mine, too, is being dealt with now and was something stemming back from my frist marriage. Actually ALL the dings on my report stem back from then. Since I've been in Texas, I've kept a low profile and paid everything in cash. Anyhow, this one was a personal loan and had nothing to do with a rent situation so with any luck they'll forgive that one. The decision is pretty much in the complex's hands right now. Im hoping they come to a decision in the next day or so. The good news here is that the January special they had running is being carried over to February so the 3 bedroom (924 sq ft) wont cost us much more than $50 more than the 2 bedroom (748 sq ft) overall. About $50 more for 176 sq ft additional space? I can handle that. Like I pointed out to hubby, if we go with the smaller apartment...we WILL have to spring for a storage unit for the extra stuff that doesnt fit (therfore making it more costly still). With the bigger apartment, it's highly likely we WONT have to do that.

Sometime over the last couple days we checked out a couple restaurants in the area. One was a mom and pop type establishment called Tom's Diner. The food's good and service is ok. The other was Clearwater Grill & Bar. O M G the food was awesome there. The waitress looked like she'd half expected that reaction as they have a 5 star chef in their kitchen. I had the San Francisco fettucini (chicken and shrimp over fettucini with green onions and mushrooms all drizzled with an alfredo sauce...*dah-ROOOOL*). I think I found my new favorite place to eat :D.

Oh and hubby's on the nightshift starting this week. He'll be there for the next 4 months which means I'll barely be able to see him. *sigh* I've pretty much decided to stay on a dayshift sleep schedule because once we get moved I have to be awake to get myself to interviews and such. It makes things difficult though because I cant do a blasted thing first thing in the morning as he's sleeping and then by the time he leaves, my mind is starting to shut down for the night. I've got dishes to put away, clothes to fold and supper to get cooked for tomorrow and Im simply too tired to even bother at this point. Well, I'd better scoot and attempt to get at least the laundry folded and the supper cooked. The dishes I can deal with tomorrow while he's sleeping.

shopping, lunch, a Bavarian pretzel, a 2x4 and other mish mosh

Friday we got up and going a bit earlier than we needed to because hubby wanted to go to Fry's to pick up some more blank dvds for the projects he has going. We try not going there too often as it's a "toy store" for him and being the techhead he is, all the electronics and makings for upgrades on the computers simply makes him drool. If he had the money I think he'd buy one out just to have the stuff for himself. To be honest, I wouldnt mind so much as I'd have a whole lot more music to stream with. Very rarely do I get out of there with less than 1 cd. I think this feat has been accomplished only twice since I moved here. This time was no acception as I found a cd that I had listed on my Amazon wishlist and figured I'd grab it while I was there. I heard this one artist while cruising the music section in MySpace and had really liked her stuff. Her name is Missy Higgins and Im really looking forward to her newest release to show up stateside. The cd I ended up buying is a previous work of hers called The Sound of White.

After going to Fry's we went to my PT appointment. He told me last week that he was going to be aggressive and last week I was a touch sorer than the week previous. This week made last week look like a walk in the park. No I wasnt twisted quite like the photo but damn it sure felt like it. I was beginning to think he was trying to make me into a human pretzel (the fat, soft Bavarian kind..of course). It was like a game of Twister only without the colored spots, the spinning dial or the fun. If I was tired going in, I was worse leaving. I could have crawled into a bed and slept all night after that. This isnt to turn anyone off to getting PT . Yes it hurts, but Im also woefully out of shape. I didnt have this problem when I was working 40 hour weeks because I was getting a workout then with hauling freight and climbing ladders to stock shelves. Once I moved here, I havent worked a day....and that's why Im this far out of shape Im sure. Yes this hurts, hurts like hell on some days, BUT Im more limber this week than I was a few weeks back. It might still ache back there BUT I can finally twist some to my right. Not pain free....BUT at least Im not having to grab the back of the chair and pull when Im trying to move to that side. So, yes, I think we're making some progress.

When we got out of there (and I managed to pour myself into the truck), we went out for lunch. It's the one thing I get to look forward to after therapy. This week we decided to try someplace different. We figured that McAlister's Deli was going to be some little hole in the wall type place. We were pleasantly surprised to find out otherwise. They are one of the few places in all of Texas that knows how to make sweet tea correctly. One knows it must be strong enough so you cant see through it (because you'll be adding ice and you dont want it to water down too much) and sweet enough to tell they actually put sweetner in. Most places here, sweet tea is so weak that it's no more than colored water...then they add beaucoup ice to it and it waters down even further. We wont go into the fact that it's never sweet enough. Anyhow, at McAlister's, the tea's made properly (*WHOOT*) and the food is delightful. I would call this the Fuddrucker's of sandwich shops (Fudd's is a very upscale Burger King/McDonald's/Wendy's for those that havent experienced one). The upscale look and the awesome food make it a place worth going to...better than McD's (who have an upscale decor but havent really followed up with the food quality).

While eating lunch, we decided to go to Target instead of WalMart because we were already on the right side of the road. It was a nice change of pace. The entrance we usually use is located next to the electronics department. Ohhhh BIG mistake. I did ok....not as good as if I hadnt stopped at that one display which is prominantly on that front corner near the door, but I did better than I would have been if I'd had my way. I walked out of the department with 3 cds... party mixes. I chose the ones I did for the upbeat tunes they had on the cd. They'll be in heavy rotation in the stereo for sure. They'll also be good if I finally get that exercise bike Im wanting. I actually had around 9 cds in my hand (@ $8.99 EACH) and could have bought them all with the money I had in my purse but I decided to be good. Next week I cant guarantee anything because all of them had AWESOME mixes of tunes. Oh I could easily burn what I have to disc, but Lord if I'd be able to remember which particular songs were on each cd (yeah I've been trying to find them online for a listing on each....).

Saturday....omg I wish someone shot me to get me out of my misery! I was so damn stiff it wasnt funny. I was as stiff as a board back there. To show you how sore I was, I normally get an ache in my lower back while doing dishes....I couldn't even feel THAT ache over all the other pain in my back. It took a liberal coating of Flexall to get it to feel 50% better. It took all day for it to feel manageable. So bad I didnt even bother with the exercises as I couldnt move anyhow. Today I feel better though. My back and side still hurt but I can move at least. I really am thinking this is arthritis aggravated by the incident in January. It wouldnt surprise me if it was. Considering what happened to that side in '91 and putting together how my right knee feels alot of the time because of the way I tend to fall (and the fact I lead with my right going up and down stairs, ladders n such).....I really suspect this is going to be an ongoing problem and am rather doubtful that PT is going to help fix it.

After reading a friend's blog, and after my stream last night, I decided it was time to update my WinAmp for my stream. It looks like theres a few more neat little clicks and whistles with it. Im wondering if they fixed that one problem that I'd been having with the old 5.08 version. I wont know until I have a chance to stream with the bugger. I see a few things I wanna check out on it for sure.

Not much else is coming to mind other than the 2 or 3 projects I want to work on so maybe it's time to get up and get them done....or at least do enough where I can say I worked on them....LOL.

Yesterday

We had a long day yesterday. By the time I got home I bet I could have dropped on the floor and slept all night. I didnt, but I bet I could have if I had allowed it. Who knew being poked and prodded for 30 minutes could get you so tired out for the rest of the night?

My PT appointment was for 130pm. We thought it was supposed to be for an hour, but it lasted only 35-40 minutes tops. Hubby had an appointment at work for 215pm so he dropped me off and scooted out the door. My PT got me in right on time. We spent a few minutes talking so he could hear from me (and not the other PT I saw last week) what all was going on. He put me on heat for 10 minutes and then proceeded to work on that side. There's a joint where the ribs meet up with the spinal column in the back and he's thinking that I did something to one or possibly two of the joints back there. The body, when it realizes there's a problem, will make the muscles in the area either go really lax OR tighten them up depending on what is best to protect the injured area. In 6-7 months, there could be more damage than we think because the muscles got used to being so tight for so long. He says that there are a couple things he wants to try but he cant do them at the same time because if I come in the next week feeling better, he wont know which one worked or if it needed to be both. Right now he's working at getting the muscle looser there (it's as tight as my shoulders get when Im stressed). After he gets the muscles to relax some, then he can see what's going on with the joints. It took him about 15-20 minutes to get it to relax just a little. I cant imagine how long it would have been if he had to work my whole back! Afterwards, he showed me another excerise he wants me to do. Im being told to do my exercises for as long as I can do them painfree and not to push the body any farther than it wants to go. The object is to make the back more limber, not put me in the hospital. Anyhow, the exercise is to lie on my back with my knees up and move them together side to side using my stomach muscles. This will strengthen my stomach up so the back doesnt have to work so damn hard. I only need to do 15 reps 2 times daily. It's not long because my spine tends to lock up near the tail bone if I lie on my back too long and then it's impossible to get up. Once I got my 15 reps in, he iced my back down for 5 minutes. I was told I was going to hurt but it wasnt so bad last night until later. Feels like he left a bruise under the skin around back there. Today Im stiff as hell, but will be still doing my exercises in a bit to loosen up.

From what hubby said, the meeting went ok. They went over his resume and asked a few questions. They then asked if he had any and he mentioned a plant in the Lexington Kentucky area. From what he explained there are some companies that are in joint ventures with TI so this plant would be TI, yet at the same time, not TI. With any luck his years and everything could transfer over and nothing would be lost (worst case here would be if he got it but they didnt cover the move and he'd end up back at the beginning again, then it wouldnt be worth the move). This would put us near his folks (about 2-3 hours away) but far enough away to discourage surprise "pop overs". It would also put me near my bro and his family as well as place us around the area my folks are hoping to move to in a few years. Everyone would be happy this way....well except my TXSis as I'd be moving away and my SCSis as it's still not close enough for easy visiting anytime we want. We're keeping our fingers crossed as this isnt definite, in fact it hasnt even been announced yet that they'll be doing this venture. Hubby at least told them to please keep him in mind if and when it goes down.

I had to wait about 45 minutes on hubby after my appointment. My PT had me so tired I almost fell asleep waiting to leave. Hubby picked me up and we went to Palominas for supper. The place aint all that. I dont know why he keeps insisting on going there. Im hoping it was this time only because it was closest to the movie theatre. Personally, I would have rathered Denny's or IHOPS as their food and service is better. Granted Palominas is a buffet and you dont need to have much in the line of service, but it wouldnt kill them to at least be a bit more pleasant than they are. Dont even get me started on the food that looked good but didnt taste all that great. Well except the chicken, cornbread and Caesar salad (and that's debateable on the salad). The fish, mashed potatoes (which tasted like german tater salad mashed...*BLEAH*) and iced tea were the worst. I never thought I'd say that a place made their iced tea too strong but damn my spoon nearly melted and I swear they laced the tea with coffee. I thought the slice of chocolate cake would make up for it...umm nope. Where the tea was very strong...the chocolate cake was a complete opposite....weak assed chocolate. Im betting the vanilla cake had a stronger flavor to it. I'll have to check next time Im inflicted with that place.

We went to see the Transformers movie last night. It was actually quite good if you could look past a couple of glaring holes in the plot (well I found them glaring...some others might not). The movie is definitely one you go to see the special effects only as the storyline (as well as some of the dialog) is really pretty lame. I give it a mantinee price and drinks which isnt a bad rating. I'd even pay to see it again and definitely get the dvd. If I'd paid evening rates and bought snacks, however, I'd have been disappointed. It was definitely as good as the Silver Surfer and loads better than that steaming turd called Spiderman3. I told hubby if we'd seen Spiderman 3 last night after that therapy session I would have fallen asleep. Even as tired as I was , I made it through the 2+1/2 hours without squirming much nor being overly bored....well maybe I was bored for only a couple minutes max. There are definitely some humorous moments in this movie especially when the boy's car (an Autobot- goodguy) decides to attempt to help the boy get the girl and starts playing appropriate music for the mood (like playing Baby Come Back as the girl's walking away). Hey, the car was only tryin to help!

After the movie we went to Wally World to do our shopping. I dont know how I managed to get all the way through the store without falling over. Surprise surprise I didnt buy any music at all this week. I think next week I'll pick up the new Ozzy that came out in March or May or something. The tunes are decent and I think it's worth the money. Actually I think I may pay the extra on Amazon for the Japanese release as it has a couple bonus tracks on it. I was considering picking up the Aly and AJ one but I want to proof it on Amazon before I decide if Im going to plunk down the money for it. When we got home, surprisingly, I didnt lie down. If I had I would have fallen right to sleep Im sure. Oh no....I got myself to my computer to check my emails and then got sidetracked on a project. Next thing I knew it was 2am....damn.

Anyone miss me?

Nope, I didnt think so.

Thursday and Friday were slightly busy days for us here. Thursday we had a going away luncheon for 3 of the guys at hubby's work. Looks like there's going to be one of these every other week for a while (if not every week). This time we went to a chinese restaurant. Yeah, me who doesnt like eating anything I cant identify readily actually went along. Personally, if Im going to go to a restaurant like this, I prefer the buffets as I can pick what I like. This time...it wasnt the case. In this restaurant, it was order from the menu. They had where you could order each person their own dish OR family style. Family style is where they bring out several dishes and everyone picks what they want from the lazy susan in the center of the table (read modified buffet). Thankfully one of the gals that works at the U.N. (the nick I have for T.I.) was with us and spoke chinese so it was easier to order. I was told by someone at our table that half the fun going out with that lady is watching the floor show as she haggled with the waitresses in their own language. She did us well though as there was maybe one dish I didnt sample (tofu...ew). I liked the seafood soup that was brought. It looked nasty but I did recognize the crab meat so I figured it couldnt be ALL bad ( somehow I think Im better off not knowing what that clear jelly stuff was in there...so please no one tell me ). The pork they brought out was tough, but edible. The beef dish, we were informed, seems to be an American favorite in their establishment. It was really good but too spicy for my liking. The fish....umm... well let's just say I have this thing about eating anything looking back at me (to the point where when Im eating boiled shrimp I cover their little exploded eyes before I rip their heads off....then I turn the torn off head so it's facing the other direction) !! Their crispy chicken was really good (thank God they served it on the bones...you know The Rumor about those Chinese restaurants). It was much like deep fried turkey.

After lunch we went to see The Fantastic Four movie. It turned out pretty good. I liked it better than their first movie which is unusual as the first movies usually are much better than the sequels. It was fast paced enough to keep me entertained the whole time and with the exception of the fact I drank my whole bottle of water during the first half of the movie (mouth was still burning from lunch) I think I could have sat through it without fidgeting. I wish I could have said the same for Spiderman 3 which lagged so bad in places that it was almost as bad as that huge steaming turd called The Hulk (2003 version). You know it's bad when you nearly fall asleep in the middle of an action film (and my now husband actually DID several times and he's a comic book buff). All in all it was a very nice day.

Friday started earlier than I would have cared for. We both had dr appointments and were scheduled to be in at 915am. His was in the computer for 930am and mine for 10am. They're learning to get me in 30-45 minutes early so my blood pressure has a chance to come down some. They took him in for his at 9 am (we always run earlier than the appointment time so they take us early if no one else is in). I sent him in with a list (which he dutifully produced for the dr from what I hear...such a good boy) and with all that needed to be addressed I didnt get in until nearly 10am (which is fine because I spent the time talkin to the receptionist Maudi). While they were getting me weighed (273...*sigh* gotta get back on track and knuckle down), they still had him held hostage in his room. I, too, had brought a list in for the doctor (mine was twice as long). My blood pressure was up a little (134/78..I usually run about a 120-125 on top) but considering what of one of my items was it's really no surprise (gotta love those Well Woman visits...*bah*). I was informed one part of my Well Woman visit isnt done until the age of 40 so I have a few years before I need to worry about that part...unless something's found that shouldnt be there...then well...*sigh*. While waiting on the dr the nurse had me leave a urine sample (they pretty much test me each time now as hubby and I are trying to have kids).

The first thing we discussed were my sinuses. She took a look and even after an hour and a half after I took my meds (and Im taking the extra Flonase on top of my Astelin this week thanks to those damn friggin crepe myrtles blooming) my nose, ears and throat still looked horrid (and to think I was actually feeling good...just a mild sore throat). I told her what the other dr suggested and also told her I'd been thinking back and remembered taking a box of formula to the face (right on the bridge between the eyes...didnt have any bleeding nor bruising just a major headache the rest of the day) while unloading a truck a few years back. She thinks it's possiblethat that's the problem and has sent in an order for me to have a CT scan to see what's going on up there. They'll be calling me this week to set an appointment. If they havent called by Tuesday, I'll be calling them.

Next thing we discussed was the results of the above mentioned urine sample. Nope, the rabbit didnt die this month either. Oh well...at least practicing's fun! My dr basically decided that due to my age we need to stick things on a faster track. It's not as though Im still in my 20's and still have a whole lot of time to keep trying. As she put it, we dont have time to futz around anymore. As such she gave me the number for a ob gyn to call this week and get in. We'd discussed what I like best in a dr and why I dont like certain ones so she said that this one should fit my needs quite well. I'll be giving them a jingle Tuesday to make an appointment. Why wait? Because Im hoping for a call from the CT people beforehand (and another that I'll discuss in a minute) so I can schedule things accordingly. I'd like to try and get it all done in one day if possible although it would be a great excuse to get out of this house more than once a week.

In the last several months, I've had a couple moles show up on my skin that I find worrisome. They're not showing the signs of being cancerous, but you never can be sure. I told the dr that we need to keep an eye on them. My mom had had a couple that kept cropping up after being frozen off so she ended up having them removed surgically (which was good because they were pre-cancerous). I was one of those sun-worshippers as a child and teen and as such I need to keep my eye out for stuff like that. My dr said my skin looks good so no worries there.

While checking south of the belly button she took a look at my feet as well. She says the toe nails are looking good (from that surgery back last spring) and that the podiatrist did a good job on them. I asked her if the occasional pain I get on them is due to them growing in and the fact the ends are rather thick. She is pretty sure that that is probably why and if it really is bothersome then to take some ibuprophen for the pain. I also had her check the cyst that's on my foot. It's been there for years and hurts now and then. The worst it does is bug me for just being there and wear holes into the insides of my sneaks. She said not to mess with it but yes we'll keep an eye on that too. Im gathering as long as it doesnt infect (like my mom's did years ago) and it doesnt cause me much pain I wont need to have it removed.

We also discussed my weight a bit. I told her that my main problem seems to be after 5pm when I seem to get really hungry and not really satisfied. Mornings are ok (I just have a breakfast bar or small bowl of cereal and juice), afternoons are ok (when I have a sandwich, or salad and a yogurt), but once I get to 4pm or so I get the munchies which last for hours. Worse yet is the fact I'd like to have ONE meal with my hubby and because of this dont eat supper until 8pm. I then went on to tell her about my brother who managed to lose 31 pounds on Atkins. Her response, then try going heavier on the protein and lighter on the carbs and see if it works for you too. I think Im going to rearrange my eating schedule and start eating earlier and having a light snack at hubby's dinner time so it at least FEELS like we're sharing a meal. Im also considering an earlier bedtime so I get 8 hrs of sleep a night. I found when I was getting that sleep I was losing a bit of weight. Im also considering looking into a diet aid that can be taken in the evening and will help me sleep a whole night and not toss and turn all night like I do now.

Last thing we discussed was my back. That one spot still hurts some (a level 2 out of 10 in discomfort) no matter what position I put myself into. It really makes doing some things rather uncomfortable. She told me it's in the muscle but was worried enough to say she was going to fax in a referral to a therapist. I'd only have to go a couple times or so just long enough to learn some exercises that would help that part of my back out. My luck the therapist will take one look and say I have to come more often just for the benefit for the rest of my back. I just hope the insurance covers all of this. What I need to do is if there's a local pool that has an aqua-slimnastics program affiliated with it. Then I could exercise a bit more comfortably. What I also need is an exercise bike that has a weight limit higher than the 250 pound standard limit. It's pretty piss poor when ya gotta lose weight to get on the equipment that will help you lose the weight. The bikes with the higher limits run no less than $400 in most places. My NYBro suggested waiting until September or so when the stores are trying to get rid of the old stock for the newer models and see if there's one in my price range then.

After my appointment with the doctor, I was sent to play with the vampires. Man, I hate doing that. The one I got didnt play nice at all. Usually I walk out with maybe a drop of blood and no major marking on my arm. This time...well the cotton had alot more blood than usual on it and I have a bruise on my arm. Definitely not usual. Thankfully I dont usually get the same person again so maybe the next one wont leave a mark. If they do, Im going to start bringing in a clove of garlic when I go.

Not much else is going on. We went to WalMart on Friday after the drs office and dropped off all our scripts. They told us an hour, but when we got back the orders weren't ready. Come find out once the scripts are entered, any WalMart pharmacy can fill them. This is good for when you are travelling and need an emergency refill on the medicine. It ISNT good , however, when it happens and you're in your home pharmacy. Seems that one of the pharmacy across town filled it and it was sitting over there. As such, the one we were at couldnt fill them until the first store returned the orders back to stock and that would be at least 24 hours. Stupid shitz. Only good thing that came out of this trip is the new Bon Jovi cd I bought (Lost Highway). It's got a more country flavor than his older stuff but doesnt steer away from his sound entirely. I played the title track last night on my stream (the room consisted the most part of me, myself , I and the dustbunnies under my desk with a brief appearance of a little chirpy lady in the room for about a half hour). I also played Till We Aint Strangers Anymore (gotta love those hick titles) which is his duet with LeAnn Rimes.

Last night I went to the link on the paperwork for the CT scan and found where they had the paperwork online so it could be downloaded and filled in early. This will help out because invariably I forget something while doing it in the office and this way I can look up certain info needed to complete the papers. Im not looking forward to any of this, to say the least but it's either this or stay sick the rest of my life.

Friday June 1st: One Last Drink For the Road (aka Saying Goodbye to Gramma)

In a few short moments that title will become rather apparent, be patient.
Friday hubby and I got up around 9am or so. I had the alarm set for 930am so I'd have time to get ready so when I awoke at 9am I figured to just stay up. I keep forgetting how little time it takes to shower nowadays with this much shorter hair and as such was dressed and ready in less than half the time it normally takes. It's almost enough to make me want to keep my hair this short permenantly. We were ready to go early so we went down to the hotel's restaurant for breakfast and then headed back to our room to wait. Around 11am we got a call (or did someone knock on their way through?) to start heading down to the banquet room that dad had reserved for us. In the room were some of the family that live in Geneva that we dont get to see. Many I didnt even know. Oh how I hate situations where I hardly know people. My brother's godmother (gramma's neice) and her daughter were there already as were my godfather and his wife. The rest I had no clue who they were. I recognized a couple names so it was nice to put faces to the names. We spent a couple hours or so catching up with everyone and eating (daddy had arranged for a light sandwich buffet to be available for those that wanted to eat).
Around 1pm, we all gathered up and headed for the cemetary. On our way our daddy told me how to get there and made me repeat it several times (I get lost easy but if I repeat the directions several times and am not distracted any Im fine). We followed daddy out of the parking lot and as we headed off my loving husband goes "Isnt he headed the wrong way?" Sure enough my DAD took the wrong turn out of the parkinglot and the new son-in-law who'd NEVER been to the state was able to discern this. *LAFFING* Once daddy realized this and got turned back around we started off. I should have known that first flub was only the beginning of it all. Hubby decided at one point that he needed to shift to the left and shortly after he did, dad exited. We had to get ourselves turned right the hell back around and yeah I was lost at this point. Why? Because I was looking for an exit that DADDY said to watch for and I hadnt seen it yet. Daddy hadnt seen it yet either and that's why he exited but because we were in the incorrect lane we couldnt follow them. *sigh* We spent the next 10 minutes or so playing cell phone tag with mom who was trying to tell us what daddy was saying and me trying to relay to hubby what was being said. I know the Western Union on both sides was getting pretty frustrated. Hubby and I managed to get ourselves to the State Fair sign (large enough landmark that it can be seen for miles around) and parked ourselves right under it. *whew* We were found and commenced to heading to the cemetary. I pretty much told hubby to duct tape our car to dad's ass and dont lose track of him (duct tape fixes everything you know). When we got there....my brother and his crew were already there (they'd started out after us....seems to be the theme for this trip...). Got a big hug from my godmother (godfather's sister)...no denying who she was as that clan all seems to look alike.
The ceremony was short and sweet. My godfather stood up and had some really nice things to say (gramma was like a mother to him). After him the preacher got up and had some nice things to say and led us in prayer. God help me, all I could see while he was praying was gramma sitting on her cloud saying "bah", laughing and knocking back on a bottle of scotch. *shakes head* I dont know if that vision was because she wanted me to see it or because I KNEW what was coming next. When all was said and done, daddy got up and had dixie cups passed out and either scotch (her drink....that and Diet Coke) or water was poured in each cup. He then said a toast to his mother and we all knocked one back in her honor. He then told us that all her friends in Florida were gathering in a favorite wateringhole at 530pm that night. All the redhats, the people she worked with, the workmates in the hospital and others were going to knock a shot of scotch back in her honor at that time. He then poured a cup of scotch and placed it on her urn for her to take with her. I have to admit...that's the way she'd want it. Actually...I'd think she'd have rather taken the whole bottle with her.
We went to visit a couple other gravesites while in the cemetary. Actually I should say one other site for two other friends. A dear friend of ours passed a couple of years back from throat cancer and his mother passed a couple years before him. While we were in the area we thought to pay our respects at the mausoleum that holds their remains. Our friend has a small floral garden there that was dedicated in his honor. The beautiful purple flowers there were exactly what he'd pick for his own garden. He always had the most beautiful yard on his block.
That evening we went to godfather's for a BBQ and got to spend some time with them before we all parted ways. We had a lovely evening chatting and the kids had fun playing. My neice spent most of the night playing dress up. She took a turn on the swing and found she didnt like it none. I guess she's more like me at that age than my bro cares to admit. My nephew, on the otherhand , is much like my brother and ADORED being on the swing. We could barely get him off it...even to have supper. Later that evening hubby and I took our leave. On our way out, dad said not to wait up because they'd be later back to the hotel (not that I'd wait up because they are adults but it DID open the door for me to mess with him the next day). My godfather's wife hugged me tight on our way out the door and said to not let it be another 15 years before we visit again. I guess this means a trip to NY in the next 5-7 years.
On our way back to the hotel, we passed the Friendly's that we'd been to the night before and I simply HAD to have one last fix of the place before heading back to Texas. I went in to get us a boothe and hubby stayed out to pollute his lungs (the good thing about this trip is that he really had to work hard to get smoke time). When he came in I heard a familiar voice and it wasnt my hubby's. Turns out my brother had had the same thought. His wonderful wife said she'd stay with the kids so long as he brought her back a scoop of sugarfree with almonds. It was nice to be able to sit and visit with just him for a few minutes. The lucky bugger is doing well...he'd managed to lose 31 pounds on the Atkins diet. I never could do that. The diet, that is. I am too in love with my pasta and sweets to pull off a diet like that. Unfortunately, until my love affair with carbs stops...I may just end up like I am for a while as genetically Im not built to handle carbs well. Ah well.

Thursday May 31st: Trip to NY part 2: Reunion with old friends (aka revisiting past memories).

After a wonderful night's sleep (my God a hotel that puts REAL pillows on the bed and not that flat shit you find in most!!), we got ourselves up and going. I hadnt gotten to sleep much before 2am and we found out later we were one of the first awake. Hubby called my parents around 1030am or so to see what they had on the agenda. I had to laugh as the phone call woke them up. Here we'd planned on breakfast with everyone too. We all met in the hotel lobby and got an idea of where everyone was headed for the day. Dad said lunch at Heid's of Liverpool at 2pm. For those not from the NY area...Heid's is THE place to go for hotdogs. They use Houffman hotdogs and are the only place Im aware of that sell coneys (pronounced coon- ees), a white hot dog that most find irresistable. Right next door they have Sweet Treats which is an icecream parlor affiliated with Heidi's.
Since there was a few hours before that, I decided to take hubby up to the WalMart on 31 and see if an old friend of mine was working. We went in and to the fitting room area to see if they knew if she was in. They said yes, but she was more than likely out to lunch. Our best bet was to go around to the smokers area and see. Sure enough that's where she was...on the phone home with one of her daughters (who'd come home on vacation from college). So I yelled her name and she turned around and said "Oh my GOD it's..". I guess the daughter got all excited and my friend hung up on her. *laughs* I never realized how much of an impression I left on her and her family. From what she told me during our visit, her kids would get the mail and get all excited when a snail mail showed up from me. They'd beg her to be allowed to open the envelope and she'd tell them no they had to wait til she got home. I wish I'd been a fly on the wall when she got home THAT night! *laffs* She brought me back to her office and then we headed back to receiving to see another friend of mine. Again I was greeted with "Holy SHIT it's YOU!", at which point she hung up with whomever she was on the phone with. I get the impression I was missed....LOL. After spending about 15- 20 minutes with them, catching up with things, I took hubby over to the mall in the area. We mainly went to kill a few minutes and to get out of the heat (it was in the 90s and very humid that day- actually HOTTER than Texas by nearly 20 degrees!). We bought a couple items, but mainly just wandered to cool off. Around 115pm or so we decided to start back to Heid's. Thank goodness we did as shortly after we started out we got a call from my mom saying they were there already. Geez. Good thing I wasnt out in bumfux Egypt someplace with a 30 minute commute....I was just around the corner by about 10 minutes.
We got to Heid's and bought 2 specials ( 2 dogs, small fries and a drink). Shortly after we got there we were joined by my godfather and his wife (my godmother is my godfather's sister). There was alot of catching up while we were eating. My SIL's kids were acting like kids and she pretty much was out of earshot most of the time unfortunately. It was so good to see my godfather again and seemed to be enjoying playing with the kids more than he was the conversation. LOL. We got some great shots of him and my nephew. Around 3pm or so, seeing that hubby was getting bored (and frankly I was too), I decided it was time to take him to some of the other places I grew up. I asked daddy about supper and he told me since I missed out meeting up with Gary to go ahead and do that if I chose. Mom told me if plans changed to give them a jingle later and we could join them for supper.
During our drive around some of the places I grew up, I found many many changes. More so than I was expecting to be honest. The Kinne Street elementary (where I went during 5th and 6th grades) had been torn down (which I knew) and a big huge building put in its place (this I didnt know). It's now known as East Syracuse Elementary. The library I used to go to in the summer was also torn down and relocated closer to the elementary school (surprise). I brought him to see the house on Irving St (the green house above)where we lived for 9 months. The new people had taken really good care of the property as it looked nicer than I remembered it (it's painted white now and the foundation is still in good repair). I do have to admit while we were in it, it was a rental property and now it looks like whomever's in it actually owns it. Heman St elementary (where I went for 3rd and 4th grades) had become an admin / GED building and looks like they're doing some work on what used to be a playyard. The pool at Heman park was open but since school was still in session it wasnt in use yet. I took hubby down to Second Street on the other side of the bridge from East Syracuse proper and damn didnt it LOOK like the proverbial "other side of the tracks". I do NOT recall it looking quite so ...well rough. My mom would use the excuse of "well it's because you're looking at it through an adult's eyes and not a child's eyes any more" but this isnt the case as I lived there until I was in my early 20's and it didnt look that bad then. The house I'd lived in most my life had been resided in yellow (props for the residing , boo on the color) and the eagle that had been in the peak was removed and a sunburst put up there. The foundation and the driveway were another matter though. They'd definately seen better days. I didnt even think to look at the roof. We drove around the corner so we could see the back yard and they'd fenced it off (making it look shorter), moved the shed to the back corner (it had been up against the house) and built a deck back there (making the yard look smaller still). Kudos on the removal of the huge tree in the middle of the yard though. As for the deck, it's a nice addition but unnecessary if there isnt a pool back there. While riding around I also noticed that the old park in the area had been ripped down to make room for other industry, the bar (which shouldnt have been allowed to operate in a family neighborhood was changed into a Thrift Store, the house that had been behind our house was no longer there (as well as the huge willow trees that had been in their yard), and there was a huge-assed garage in the yard where the neighbor who'd lived there used to practice his driving (he was an avid golfer). I figured to take a ride up to the second WalMart I'd worked at and it had been replaced with a Sam's Club so we headed to the other 2 schools I'd been at. I opted not to take him to the jr high as school was letting out (or at least the late bus run was going) and it's a bitch getting out of that parkinglot during that time so we headed straight up to the highschool (which looks larger...they must have remodelled the gymnasium). Hubby told me it was larger than his old school to which I replied we'd had over 300 in the graduating class alone. To think, mine wasnt even the largest graduating class either. At least we could hold ours on the football field. I know some schools so much larger they had to rent one of the Community buildings in Syracuse for their commencement ceremonies!
After the trip to the highschool, I took him to the one place I'd vowed I wasnt going but something inside told me to face it. We drove out to that one trailor I'd rented so many years ago. It was a little difficult to find, made harder by the fact it had been painted from a lovely colonial blue to a shit brown. It looked like a huge turd in the middle of that piece of property. I have to admit it looks like it held up really well all this time though as it was pretty old when we rented it in the first place. We didnt, however, drive down the road my ex's parents live on. Somehow at the time I couldnt face it. Now Im wishing I had faced that one bit of the past. *sigh* Ah well.
Once the rounds were made, we went back to the hotel to freshen up and wait on Gary to call after work. Around 530pm or so he called (Gary correct me if Im wrong) and we'd decided on 630pm for the get together. He picked us up right on the nose and we headed to his house for the 25 cent tour (another quarter coulda bought me the trip to the basement but I didnt think my knees could handle the trip down ...nevermind back up). He has a beautiful little house...perfect for two. Then we went to Friendly's for supper and dessert. For those not from the north east part of the United States, Friendly's is a restaurant that specializes in icecream for dessert. Many of their sundaes are simply not made anywhere else in the continental U.S.A. As a child who grew up in NY, this is the one place above all that I want to go when I hit the north east as this restaurant doesnt exist south of the Mason-Dixon line or anywhere to the west. While we were waiting on our suppers, he showed us the pix of his trip to Tennessee for our wedding in August. All of us had a wonderful time and I was sad to have such a short time to visit with my friends.
Hubby and I got back to the hotel and crashed for the night as Friday was going to be one long day for all of us.
