Ah, thank you. What I thought was a fuel tank appears to be a water tank complete with a green garden hose hanging from it.

I still don't know why I find this picture evocative. Something in it rings a bell in my head but I can't put a finger on it.

You're welcome iggy hun. Maybe the picture is reminding you of something from your childhood? I know seeing oldtime stores with the living quarters upstairs or around back always brings to mind trips to Iowa to visit Great Gramma. The store was not in use when we visited as Great Grampa had passed on many years before and GGma couldnt bring herself to run it. While my brother and I visited, we'd play in the storefront....there was an awesome counter in there for rolling trucks and cars along or to play with little plastic farm animals.

I love the cow. It looks like it can't decide which way to go, the left or the right, lol.

Looks like there's a rusted tilling wheel (or whatever farmers call it) just to the right of the water tank with the green garden hose hanging down.

More like "do I really wanna join those other moo-zers at the other end of the field?" It was standing about 50 ft away from the others in the other photo.

I figured it out! Tha cow looks so confused because she'd been hypnotized by that kitty's eyes!! That's it!

I think you might be right Styxie. My grandpop and grandma had a place in New Hampshire, near Milton Mills, which is very much in the middle of nowheres. Anyway, they lived in an old farmhouse on the side of a somewhat rocky hill - I was there last in the late 1960's so its been a long long time ago and my memory isn't to good since I wasn't there for very long. I do remember having a very pleasant time visiting.
